#BBB NEWS| Jidenna Serves “Coming To America” Realness In Parallel Magazine [PHOTOS]

The classic man himself covers Parallel Magazine looking like royalty straight from a movie screen, making him the first to cover Parallel Magazine’s ‘special edition’ issue.

Parallel Magazine is a publication that highlights Africans and innovative individuals from around the world who are seeking to contribute to the growth of the continent of Africa.

Jidenna, known for his always dapper attire, is styled in a fitted uniform adorned with metals and gold detailing for the issue that titled him “General Jidenna” which is very befitting of him; he is the son of a chief. Here’s how they described him:

The son of a Nigerian chief and an American anthropologist, Jidenna Mobisson is an East Flatbush, Brooklyn-based lyrical genius, and a thought leader with magnetism to spare. His worldly origins birthed the groundbreaking genre Swank, a classy and funky take on hip-hop that transfigures ordinary parties into sweaty soirées.

#BBB NEWS| Distinguished Gentleman: Jidenna’s Guide To Being A “Classic Man” [PHOTOS]

A “Classic Man” style guide from the classic man himself. According to Jidenna’s “Classic Man” manifesto, being branded with the term of distinction is more about character than outer appearance – but Jidenna’s outer appearance is also sharp as hell.

As his debut single rests comfortably in the memory of the masses and enjoys a reboot with guest bars from Kendrick Lamar, Jidenna’s introduction now includes an infectious song and a slew of great suits. Inspired by the Jim Crow era, the 29-year-old cohort of Janelle Monae’s Wondaland Records’ fashion choices are weighed with cultural significance.

To the untrained eye, the artist’s penchant for rocking a three-piece suit is simply an effort to be different, but to him, it is much more. In a sartorial effort to honor the resilience of his black elders, Jidenna’s clothing adorns a man who is very much “woke.”

“‘Sharp in mind, body and style’ is the style mantra,” he notes. “It means that I think your look should make it seem like you’re sharp in your mind, so it should have a certain level of sophistication.”

#BBB NEWS| Jidenna Expresses His Love For Nigeria In An Open Letter [PHOTOS]

“Classic Man”  creator Jidenna is a Nigerian-American rapper that is taking over the hip hop game! He recently interviewed with VladTV about his experience in Nigeria and got dragged to the mud! The creative artsy lyricist now responds to backlash for interview about Nigeria!

Jidenna has come under fire for a recent interview on Vlad TV where he commented on being light-skinned in Nigeria. He stated, “The fact that you have African blood in you is gonna make it hard. When you’re light-skinned, you’re a heavier target for being kidnapped because you’re seen as more valuable. We were robbed–our family’s been assaulted. We’ve had a lot of issues.”

In his own defense against his detractors who took his comments as painting Nigeria in a negative light, he penned an open letter on his website reaffirming his doubters.

He writes, “I am, always have been, and always will be proud of my Nigerian heritage. I understand the pain and anger caused by some of the comments I made in a recent interview, and I wanted to address you directly. Contrary to popular belief, this interview was not the first in which I mentioned Nigeria. In fact, I’m frequently bragging about how Nigerians attend the world’s most prestigious institutions, and how we are known to produce world class doctors, entrepreneurs, innovators, lawyers, engineers, professors, athletes and artists.”
