One of his victims, journalist Dee Barnes – who was assaulted by the rapper in 1991 – wrote an extensive piece on her experience and the ramifications for its lack of inclusion in the hit film. Following the publishing of her response, Dre issued a widespread apology via The New York Times.
“I apologize to the women I’ve hurt. I deeply regret what I did and know that it has forever impacted all of our lives,” he said in a statement to the newspaper.
