#BBB NEWS| Prof. Wole Soyinka, Lagos Govt. Laud Diamond Bank Plc

Africa’s first Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka and the Lagos State Government have commended Diamond Bank Plc for its leading role in championing the intellectual development of children and the growth of art in primary and secondary schools.

Speaking at the Bank’s head office in Lagos, during the unveiling and announcement of the 2016 edition of the Vision of the Child (VOTC) painting and literary arts competition, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, stated that Diamond Bank’s initiative and sponsorship of the competition since its inception in 2012, is a testament of the Bank’s strong commitment to the future of children, pointing that such commitment serves as a wake-up call to other corporate organisations to support and participate in various programs aimed at boosting the quality of education in the State.

“The Vision of the Child is an initiative geared towards promoting education through creative thinking, literary arts and painting skills. This vision is in tune with our educational policy in Lagos State and that is why government has participated actively in it since inception. We will continue to do so as long as it provides children the platform to express their understanding of the world they live in, their vision of what it should be, as well as their fantasies and dreams,” the Deputy Governor stated.

#BBB NEWS| Diamond Bank Donates Vehicle, Communication Gadgets to the Nigeria Police

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Diamond Bank Plc has donated a vehicle and communication gadgets to the Lagos State Police Command to boost the command’s effort in containing crime and providing effective security for the state.

Speaking during the presentation of a Toyota Hilux van and sophisticated communication gadgets to the Command Headquarters in Lagos, Ayona Trimnell, Divisional Head, Corporate Communications of the Bank, stated that the donation is one of the ways that Diamond Bank gives back to the society. According to her, the aim of the donation is to contribute towards a better and well equipped Police force.

She said: “We believe that a better equipped Police will do a better job at containing crime and providing a more effective security in the society. Therefore, ensuring that the police force is better equipped should be the concern of every responsible citizen, and as a socially responsible corporate organization, we at Diamond Bank constantly strive to give back to the society in ways that impact positively”.

Uzoma Dozie, Diamond Bank Plc’s CEO has been nominated the Best Digital Banker of the Year. The Award, given by the American Banker, Bank Technology News, is in recognition of the Bank’s high value addition to mobile banking and for leading the digital revolution in providing efficient and cost-effective services in the financial industry using the mobile phone.

A message from the American Banker, stated that the nomination is a testament of Uzoma’s increasing leading role in driving the development and digitization of the financial industry by “creating apps and sites that are engaging, relevant and personalized”.

#BBB NEWS| Samsung, Diamond Bank Plc and Softcom Signs Partnership MoU for $100M Technology Intervention Fund for Education in Nigeria

May 22, 2015 – Lagos, Nigeria – Diamond Bank, Samsung Electronics and Softcom Limited have secured a partnership to provide a special 100 million US Dollars Technology Intervention Fund for Education.

This partnership comes to be as the three organizations, who are also sponsors of the Future Ready University conference which will be hosted by Covenant University on the 10th and 11th of June 2015, strive to replicate the success achieved in Covenant University into 40 other Nigerian universities.

The Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed at a press conference announcing the Future Ready University conference, seals the strategic partnership between  Samsung Electronics, Diamond Bank Plc and Softcom which will enable other Nigerian universities replicate the mobile learning program which already is operational in Covenant University. The 100million U.S Dollar technology intervention fund, will allow the interested universities to easily procure the solutions and secure fast track bulk financing from Diamond Bank.

#BBB NEWS| Diamond Bank Hold 50th BusinessXpress Training For MSMEs Stakeholders [PHOTO]

It was a historic event for leading retail bank, Diamond Bank PLC, as it recently held the 50th edition of its BusinessXpress Seminar for operators in the Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs). This time, the training programme took place in the south western ancient city of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The BusinessXpress Seminar is the Bank’s customised training initiative aimed at building and strengthening capacity among budding entrepreneurs and small businesses in the MSME segment of the Nigerian economy. It is an offshoot of the bank’s BusinessXpress account. 

Ayona Trimnell, the bank’s chief spokesperson stated that the training programme tallies with the strategic objective of the Bank, which are aimed at building world-class productive capacity that could compete favourably on the global scale.

“At Diamond Bank, we are not just eager to provide funds for operators, we are also very passionate about building capacity that could help catalyse economic production and boost employment at the MSMEs sub-sector”.
