After weeks of touring different Southwest cities including Abeokuta, Ilorin, Ikare Akoko, Ado-Ekiti and Benin, the Goldberg Excellency Tourcame to an exciting climax in Oyo during its EXCELLENT NITE on Friday, March 31, 2017.

The event, which held at Dacamca Hotel, Tobacco Area, Oyo, witnessed an influx of indigenes and fun lovers who trooped to the venue to celebrate the Excellent Drummers in town. After a town procession and audition of the drummers, five groups qualified to the final of the Excellent Nite.

Agborako Onibata Ara beat all other groups to the overall prize and went home with Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira. Asamu Ayan emerged the second best drum band and took home One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira while Apeke Ajobata emerged third with a prize of One Hundred Thousand Naira.

Amuludun Group and Omo Ayan emerged fourth and fifth position and went home with Fifty Thousand Naira each.

Goldberg Excellency Tour: DJ Kingsley and Nathaniel Emerge Winner of DJ and Free Styling Competition in Benin City.

Disc Jockey (DJ)  Kingsley Amhas and Nathaniel Iyayi, a Rapper have emerged winners of the grand prize of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N250,000) in the Goldberg Excellency Tour competition for DJs and free style artistes in Benin City, Edo State.

The competition in Edo languages which was organized by Goldberg, also known as "Your Excellency," was held at the Play, House, Okhoro road, Benin City, from March 24 to 25, 2017. It was part of efforts at promoting the culture of the people of Edo State in line with Goldberg’s 3-point agenda of culture, respect and enjoyment.

The competition which started with audition of five DJs, thirteen rappers and four singers was later streamlined to five, comprising of a DJ and rapper as a team for the finale on March 25, 2017.

Ayan-Gbayi Group has clinched the grand prize and emerged the overall best drum band at the Excellency Tour in Ado Ekiti held at Prosperious Hotel and Bar on Friday, March 10, 2017.

After two breathtaking performances by each band, Ayan-Gbayi emerged the best after a close contest with four other groups and went home with Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira.

Ifesowapo Group emerged the second best band and carted away a prize of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira, while Itesiwaju Group emerged the third best band and went home with One Hundred Thousand Naira. Masterpiece Theatre Troupe and Alayande Group emerged fourth and fifth and took home Fifty Thousand Naira each.

Kayode Rahman, leader of the best drum band said the Goldberg Excellency Tour has brought a season of excitement and reward for local talents in Ado Ekiti and expressed appreciation to the brand for supporting traditional acts around the South West with the Tour. According to him, “This is the most rewarding day for us as a band and we cannot hide our excitement for winning this grand prize.”

Egbe Alu Dundun has clinched the overall prize in the traditional drumming contest at the Ilorin edition of the Goldberg Excellency Tour on Sunday, February 26, 2017.

The winning band outshone four other finalists at the contest held at Forest Guest Inn, Old GRA, Ilorin and took home a cash prize of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira. Ayanwale band came second and won One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira while Arowolo band took the third position and went home with One Hundred Thousand Naira. The fourth and fifth finalists, Egbe Omo Ayan and Ori Oye also got cash prizes of Fifty Thousand Naira each.

The event, aptly captioned ‘Ilorin Excellent Nite’, created a spectacle for residents and visitors who trooped to the venue to witness a display of creativity in traditional drumming by the five finalists who made it from the audition stage. Originality, stage craft, appearance and presentation were the criteria for selecting the winning groups who dazzled the crowd and judges during the contest.

#BBB NEWS| Goldberg Excellency Tour: Otapo Bata Drummers Emerge Winner of Cultural Contest In Abeokuta [PHOTO]

Otapo Bata Drummers from Abeokuta have emerged winners at the traditional drummers contest at the kick-off event of the Goldberg Excellency Tour in Abeokuta on Saturday, February 18, 2017.

The group outperformed four other groups at the grand finale to cart home the coveted prize of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N250, 000). Ayanwale Drummers clinched the second position and won One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N150, 000) while Omo Aribido Drummers claimed the third spot and settled for the One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100, 000) on offer for the slot.

The other two finalists, Ayandare Drummers and Paramount Band got Fifty Thousand Naira (N50, 000) each.

At the commencement of the event on Friday, February 17, 2017, 12 groups auditioned at the cultural centre, venue of the event, with five groups emerging from the pool to reach the grand finale.
