Jada Pinkett-Smith has written a note reflecting on the passing of Afeni Shakur, the mother of her late-friend, rapper Tupac Shakur.

She shared the heartfelt message on Facebook today (May 3), which paints Afeni as a loving mother to all and a wise friend who remained calm, cool and collected during any rough spots in life.

“Today I woke up to the news that Afeni had passed,” she started the post with. “My first thought was of Sekyiwa and the entire clan that loved Afeni. Then I remembered that I was in NY to attend a Mother’s Day event named after a song written about Afeni, Dear Mama. My heart tightened and then all kinds of memories flooded in. I quickly remembered how calm Afeni was especially during any crisis. She always had a way of making me believe all would be well.

Pinkett-Smith also recalls some of the best memories she shared with Afeni, where she noticed that she and her son (who had passed by this point) were very similar.

As production continues on the Benny Boom directed Tupac biopic All Eyez On Me, its just been reported CW actress Kat Graham has been cast to play Jada Pinkett-Smith.

The Vampire Diaries actress will join Danai Gurira who will star as Afeni Shakur and Demetrius Shipp Jr who place ‘Pac.

Jada Pinkett-Smith and Tupac were high school classmates who attended The Baltimore School for The Arts and remained close friends until his murder in 1996.

Jada Pinkett-Smith has been a successful Hollywood actress FROM TIME. From 1994’s Jason’s Lyric and A Low Down Dirty Shame, all the way to the 2004’s Collateral staring opposite Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx, Mrs. Smith has been holding her own, and doing it well.

On Tuesday night (October 6) Jada went strolling down memory lane and uploaded an old Set it Off cast photo to Instagram.

The film, directed F. Gary Gray and written by Kate Lanier, debuted in theaters November 6, 1996 and earned $41 million against it $9 million budget.

Staring Smith, Vivica A. Fox, Queen Latifah and Kimberly Elise, who made her acting debut, the film follows four friends in L.A. who rob a bank, and while all four ladies did a phenomenal job, helping to make the film a classic, Jada revealed she actually didn’t want to play Stony; she had her heart set on another role.

(The actress turned 44 on September 18) and just a week later, Jada returned the gesture in kind by sharing a never-before seen baby photo of the Academy Award nominee Friday (September 25) for his 47th birthday.

Everyone sent Jada Pinkett Smith well wishes on her birthday yesterday (Sept. 18), but her hubby Will Smith takes the cake.

Utilizing his Facebook account, the Focus actor shared a touching letter to his wife, showcasing a throwback picture of Jada’s 24th birthday celebration at her mother’s home. “This was taken at your mom’s house 20 years ago. That’s a long time ago!!! So I decided to do some math…,” the Fresh Prince wrote.

“I have sung happy birthday to you 20 times and I have bought you 19 birthday presents (I was mad that one year). I have watched you blow out 693 candles (737 after tonite). I’ve told you “I love you” at least 8,285 times. And of the nearly 3.96 Billion women on the planet – there is only 1 that I want to spend the rest of my life with. Happy Birthday, my Love!” he sealed the touching note.
