Charcey Glenn, mother of NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley, passed away at age 73 of kidney failure, the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office says.

Glenn died Friday (June 19) in Leeds, Ala., her hometown, and served as chair of the city water board, Associated Press reports.

Barkley also grew up in his mother’s birthplace and later attended Auburn University to play basketball.
