#BBB NEWS| Code Of Conduct Bureau To Probe Amaechi, Ngige, Fashola, Malami & Others Over Assets

The Code of Conduct Bureau has begun massive verification of assets declared by top serving and former public officers at the federal, state and local government levels.

A statement by the Chairman of the CCB, Mr. Sam Saba, released by the Press and Protocol Unit of the Bureau on Thursday, stated that the exercise involved the physical appearance of the concerned public officers before the bureau for conference and field verification' of their declared assets.

Conference verification requires public officers to present documents relating to their declared assets to designated officials of the Bureau.

On the other hand, field verification involves public officers taking CCB officials to locations of their declared landed, fixed and other assets that could not be conveniently moved to the bureau’s office.

He stated that by virtue of Paragraph 11 of Part 1 of the Fifth Schedule to the 1999 Constitution (as amended), “every public officer is required to submit to the Code of Conduct Bureau a written declaration of all properties, assets and liabilities and those of his/her spouse (if not a public officer) and his unmarried children under the age of 18 years.”

#BBB NEWS| Amaechi Denies Spending N82m On Dinner Party For Soyinka, Asks Wike To Go To Court

Former Rivers state governor Rotimi Amaechi has denied claims by the Rivers state government that he spent N82 million to host Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka to a dinner in the state when he was in office.

The state Commissioner for information had in a statement released on Tuesday alleged that the former governor spent the said amount to organize an 80th birthday dinner party ‎for Soyinka.

In a statement released by his media aide David Iyofor, Amaechi denied the allegation, asking the state governor Nyesom Wike to go to court if he found anything incriminating against him.

He said this recent allegation was an attempt by the state governor to distract the Rivers state indigene from focusing on his election fraud.

#BBB NEWS| Rotimi Amaechi Confirmed As Minister

The former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, was confirmed as a minister after a dramatic two weeks in the Nigerian Senate.

Mr. Amaechi’s screening process by the Senate was postponed three times because of growing dissent by Senators from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) against him.

Earlier today, PDP Senators staged a dramatic walkout from the Senate Chambers allowing for APC members to confirm Mr. Amaechi.

#BBB NEWS| Ignore Petitions, White Paper Against Me, Amaechi Writes Saraki

Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has written Senate President Bukola Saraki, asking him not to take any action on the White Paper issued by Governor Nyesom Wike against him and his administration and the petition sent to the Senate by Livingstone Wechie accusing him of corruption.

Amaechi, who is a ministerial nominee from Rivers State have been having a running battle with the State government and its lawmakers, who are opposed to his nomination and appointment by President Muhamadu Buhari.

The state and the lawmakers want Amaechi to be dropped, accusing him of having made the state to lose huge revenue when he was governor for eight years. The opposition against him informed the postponement of his screening twice last week when 18 other nominees were cleared by the upper legislative chamber.

But Amaechi through his lawyer, Edward E. Pepple of Edward and Williams and Co, in the letter made available to Saturday Vanguard,  yesterday, said the entirety of the so-called petition and white paper ran foul of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and should not be acted upon pending the hearing and determination of the suits on the matters.
