#BBB NEWS| Mark Zuckerberg Donates $5 Million To Undocumented Students

Mark Zuckerberg an immigration reform advocate? Who knew. On Wednesday (June 17), the co-founder and CEO of Facebook announced that he had made a donation of $5 million to help sponsor the college educations of over 400 undocumented students in the Bay Area.

“America was founded as a nation of immigrants,” wrote the 31-year-old in his Facebook post below. “We ought to welcome smart and hardworking young people from every nation, and to help everyone in our society achieve their full potential. If we help more young immigrants climb the ladder to new opportunities, then our country will make greater progress.”

Thanks to such a hefty contribution, these DREAMers will now be afforded the opportunity to attend higher education via TheDream.US, a national scholarship program that funds education for immigrant youth.

The announcement comes weeks after Hillary Clinton enlisted prominent DREAMer and immigration activist, Lorella Praeli, as Latino Outreach Director of her campaign.
