The Party said there was urgent need for the anti-graft agency to visit the State and inspect the misappropriation of funds and corruption being orchestrated by the Mimiko led government.
It further disclosed that this was a sequel to the shocking revelation by the former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy, Ngozi Okojo-Iweala
Okonjo-Iweala had said that between 2011 and 2014 Ondo State received N81.7 billion from the excess crude account; non-accountability of Local Government funds; 13% oil derivation funds for the oil producing area of the State - Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC).
In a statement by the Publicity Secretary, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, of the APC, the party lamented over the financial misfortune of the State under the already sinking government of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the current cabinet.
“It is regrettable that as an oil producing State, under the Mimiko-led PDP government, had received such whopping amount with no meaningful justification."
“The Peoples Democratic Party government in the State has no reason to drag the State into the present state of debt, considering the amount of resources available for them."
He also noted with dismay the number of neglected and incomplete projects initiated by the incumbent government of the State.
“This to us is worrisome and calls for proper investigation by an anti-graft agent of the Federal Government.”
The Party accused Mimiko of bankrupting the State without visible-capital project in place.
“With no meaningful capital project in place, especially since his assumption of office for second term, Mimiko administration has dragged the state into bankruptcy and ground it to a halt”.
He added that all effort to get the embattled Governor answerable to the misappropriated financial revenue of the State always proved futile.
“On several occasions we have charged Mimiko to come up with the financial statement of the State but he had since refused to answer us.
“Although, some States owed their workers’ salaries they impacted the lives of their people with developmental projects and other interventions unlike Ondo State," the Party said.
The statement added that the APC was determined to know how hard-earned and tax payer funds was being spent or whether PDP government in the State was feeding itself fat on public funds.
