#BBB NEWS| President Buhari Heads To Chad And Niger Before Flying To Germany, Returns On Tuesday

President Buhari has left Nigeria today to meet with regional allies in the fight against Boko Haram. His first official foreign visits as President include Chad and Niger.

According to his spokesman, Shehu Garba, “The President has Niger and Chad ahead of him. This will be his first trip outside the country in obvious matters of security”, he said.

The trip will be two days long, spanning Wednesday and Thursday.

President Buhari recently announced that he will be moving Nigeria’s military command from Abuja to Maiduguri to help the bordering countries eliminate Boko Haram who have continued to cause chaos in the Northeastern region with attacks that have killed scores of people.

Shortly after his return from Chad, Buhari is also expected to attend this weekend’s G7 summit in Germany in his first major international meeting as Nigeria’s president.

“The president has accepted the invitation to attend the G7 summit. He’s expected to depart Nigeria on Sunday for the summit. It’s going to be a two-day trip,” his spokesman, Shehu Garba said yesterday.

A second spokesman confirmed to SaharaReporters that Buhari “will return to the country on Tuesday.”

Reports say that that Britain’s Foreign Minister, Philip Hammond, told Buhari at a meeting in Abuja on Friday that Prime Minister David Cameron urges him to come to the summit with a “wish list”.

Buhari met with Cameron for private talks in London the week before his inauguration, where the British PM pledged to help in a number of areas such as fighting extremism and aiding economic growth. Cameron sought Buhari’s backing for “free trade” between the European Union and Africa.
