Frank Ocean appeared at President Obama’s last State Dinner on Oct. 18, and C-Span was fortunate enough to talk to the Blonde musician on camera. This just so happens to be the first time in nearly four years that Ocean was interviewed on camera.

Reporters asked the elusive singer about the Vans sneakers he paired with his outfit, and also what he was looking forward to while in attendance. His answer?

“Asking Obama if he had fun these last eight years,” he told the cameras. “…And congratulate him, too.”

He was also asked a question about if he was supporting Hillary Clinton, and if he would do a concert to show his support. He said, “probably not,” and then concluded.

“We’re running out of time, I think. Might have to catch you in four years,” he stated before leaving.

Parting is such sweet sorrow. Until we speak again, Frank.

Frank Ocean’s Blonde album is popular among music pirates. Ocean’s heavily anticipated sophomore LP is inching close to a million illegal downloads since it was released last Saturday (Aug. 20).

According to Music Business Worldwide, Blonde snagged 753,849 illegal downloads, in under a week. The figures, which don’t include downloads per-song or illegal streams, are more than double the projected sales figures of Ocean’s new album.

Blonde is expected to sell between 200,000- 250,000 copies during its first week, and will debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 charts. In addition, Blonde marks Ocean’s first No. 1 debut on the UK album charts.

Frank Ocean’s Blond[e] has been four years in the making, and has been promoted with every ounce of Apple’s hype machine.

It looks like that’s going to result in some pretty big first week numbers.

According to Billboard, Blond[e] is expected to move between 225 and 250K sales plus streaming it its first seven days.

That’s a large increase from Ocean’s 2012 album Channel Orange, which did 130K in its first week, and will easily land Ocean number one on the album chart.

In April 2015, fans of Frank Ocean were treated to news of a forthcoming album from the singer-songwriter. While many crossed off the passing days awaiting the soundscape’s release, which was rumored to be in July of the same year, a few gave up hope. But now, Ocean is making waves again with this latest update.

In an interview with Pitchfork, Ocean’s longtime producer Malay, who was an instrumental figure in his revered project Channel Orange, shared that the 28-year-old is hard at work with his forthcoming album, but it’ll be released on Ocean’s own time.

“I always tell people: When he’s ready, the world is gonna get it,” he states. “It could be tomorrow… well not tomorrow but maybe a month [laughs].”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the Academy-Award winner declared that during her absence since 2011’s 21, she’s been somewhat out of the loop in regards to music and pop culture.

Aside from being a fan of FKA Twigs and admitting to sneaking into the Glastonbury festival to see Kanye West perform, Adele has been too busy raising her 3-year-old son, and said she doesn’t have much to say, which is why fans haven’t heard any new music from her.

“When I have nothing to say, I’d rather just not talk.” Adele said.

Nearly a week after the release of his third studio effort, Wildheart, Miguel is kicking up dust once more after a recent interview with The Sunday Times. When asked about his relationship with fellow R&B crooner, Frank Ocean, Mig said they were “cordial” at best.

“I wouldn’t say we were friends. To be completely honest — and no disrespect to anyone — I genuinely believe that I make better music, all the way around,” he said. “It’s interesting, but we’ll see who’s in it for the long haul. It’s like a marathon, you know?”

In 2013, Miguel (as well as Chris Brown) passed on giving Ocean a standing ovation after both lost to Frank’s channel orange for the Best Urban Contemporary Album at the Grammy Awards.
