#BBB NEWS| Jerry Heller’s Lawyer Claims ’Straight Outta Compton’ Contributed To His Death

Jerry Heller’s may have passed on, but his beef with Straight Outta Compton isn’t dead yet. A lawyer for N.W.A’s onetime manager, wants to keep the battle alive by blaming the film for Heller’s death.

Heller, 75, died Friday (Sept. 2) after reportedly suffering a heart attack and crashing his car. According to TMZ, lawyer Mickey Shapiro says Heller’s health took a hit because of the way he was portrayed in the film.

Shapiro asserts that Heller, who was diabetic, became distraught and lost sleep over the way he was portrayed in Straight Outta Compton.

#BBB NEWS| N.W.A’s Former Manager, Jerry Heller, Dies At 75

Early Saturday morning (Sept. 3), news broke that Jerry Heller, manager of the 1980s rap collective N.W.A, died at the age of 75. Billboard reports that Heller’s cousin, Gary Ballen, confirmed the music industry veteran’s passing, but the cause of his death is still unknown.

Heller’s likeness recently made an appearance in the 2015 blockbuster N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton. His controversial dealings of the group’s monetary endeavors sparked a rift within the storied rap collective, and eventually led to their parting.

He also assisted in making Ruthless Records a household name within the industry, which saw the release of platinum-selling albums Eazy-Duz-It, 100 Miles and Runnin’, and the critically-acclaimed Straight Outta Compton.

Once the movie made its rounds, Heller sued Dr. Dre, Eazy-E’s estate, Ice Cube and others involved in the making of the film for defamation of character, and sued for $110 million in damages, Rolling Stone reports.

#BBB NEWS| Eazy E’s Ex-manager Jerry Heller Is Suing All Involved With ‘Straight Outta Compton’ For Everything

Eazy E’s ex-manager Jerry Heller is suing Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, the Estate of Eazy-E, NBC Universal and others for defaming his character in the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton.

He claims he was incorrectly represented as a “bad guy” and “a sleazy manager who took advantage of Eazy-E, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube.”

Specifically, he says the movie got it wrong when they portrayed him withholding a $75k check from Ice Cube, fraudulently inducing Cube and Dr. Dre to sign unfavorable contracts, and enjoying lobster brunches while the contracts were being signed. He also says he was never fired by Eazy-E.

#BBB NEWS| Former N.W.A Manager Jerry Heller Might Take Legal Action Against ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Film [PHOTO/VIDEO]

Following the recent news of Suge Knight’s lawyer speaking out against the Straight Outta Compton film, another person involved with the group’s storyline is sharing the same sentiments.

N.W.A’s former manager, Jerry Heller, spoke with the Los Angeles Times on his thoughts about the F. Gary Gray-directed biopic.

“Well, my only comment so far is that I think it’s inappropriate for me to comment on a movie that I haven’t seen,” Heller said. “I did see it on Saturday, and I’m still not willing to comment right now on that movie because I think sooner or later it may be part of an ongoing litigation.”

Heller, who was portrayed by world-renowned actor Paul Giamatti, became known for the long-lasting scandal that involved him stealing money from the historic rap group. In an interview with TMZ earlier this month, Heller, 74, provided his opinion on the critically-acclaimed movie, stating, “Until I see the film, I’m not going to comment on it. I’ll be there Thursday night in the first row with at least two of my lawyers, and we’ll see if I like it or not.”
