The Boko Haram attack on Dalori Village, which killed scores of people, was carried out using multiple methods, the Nigerian military has said.

In its first reaction since the attack that occurred on Saturday night, the military quoted witnesses as saying the “insurgents came in two Golf cars, motorcycles, started opening fire and burning houses.”

Apart from the direct invasion, the insurgents also used three suicide bombers to attack residents as they tried to flee, the military said in its statement on Sunday afternoon.

PREMIUM TIMES had reported the attack which lasted about four hours; with scores, residents say as many as 100 people, killed.

Officials at the Maiduguri Specialists Hospital said 35 corpses were brought there after the attack, with about 100 others injured.

The acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel S.K. Usman, claimed that the Nigerian army killed 5 Boko Haram terrorists and rescued 210 civilians held captive by the terrorist group on Wednesday.

The deaths of the Boko Haram terrorists occurred at Furkati village, which is located in Geidam a Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe State. 

The rescue of the 210 civilians was the result of Nigerian troops responding to a tip that Boko Haram was holding hostage the inhabitants of the villages of Ejilije, Bulagaije-lari, Bulagaije-Adamde, and Ajiri.

According to military sources, the Boko Haram terrorists fled these villages once they learned the Nigerian military was advancing upon them.

#BBB NEWS| Nigerian Military Control Command Moves To Maiduguri To Fight Boko Haram

The Nigerian military has moved its control command to the northeast Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State the heartland of Boko Haram’s insurgency, the army said.

Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman, said the movement of the military control command for counter-insurgency operations in the nation's northeast states was in compliance to the order of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari during his inauguration on May 29.

"In compliance with the presidential pronouncement and the Chief of Army Staff's directive, a reconnaissance and advance team for the establishment of Military Command and Control Centre (MCCC) for OPERATION ZAMAN LAFIYA for the fight against terrorism and insurgency has moved to Maiduguri, Borno State," Col. Usman told newsmen in Maiduguri on Monday.
