The girls were dropped in Banki before they were airlifted to Abuja yesterday to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.

The next phase of life for 21 Chibok girls who were freed from the captivity of Boko Haram will include their continued pursuit of an adequate education.

According to The Root, Robert Smith, an African-American billionaire, seeks to fund the education of those girls by enrolling them at the American University of Nigeria.

The scholarship will include the girls’ room and board and their yearly tuition, which can hit close to $11,000. In a statement presented to Forbes, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said Smith will also guide the educational dreams of “others who will hopefully be eventually set free.”

Smith, 54, attained financial freedom after establishing Vista Equity Partners, tallying his company’s worth at $26 billion. His net worth stands at $2.5 billion. At the top of 2016, Smith granted his alma mater, Cornell University, with a $50 million check and became the chairman of Carnegie Hall.

The attacker was said to have driven a Volkswagen Golf car to the  Muna Garage Market along Gamboru-Ngala Road at about 8:09 am.

Rescue workers informed source that the dead have been moved to the Borno State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri, while the wounded are currently receiving treatment in the same hospital.

Eyewitnesses explained that the driver brought four women and a child to the garage before the bomb exploded at the back seat of the car.

Abubakar Shekau, factional leader of Islamist insurgency group, Jama’atu Ahlus-Sunnah lil-Da’awati wal Jihad, commonly known as Boko Haram, in a just-released video stated that his group married off more than 40 Chibok schoolgirls the sect abducted two years ago in Borno State.

In the video, which runs 10 minutes and 22 seconds, released on Mr. Shekau’s behalf by one of his lieutenants dressed in a green camouflage, wielding a gun and surrounded by some of the Chibok girls said, Boko Haram dared the Nigerian military to capture the Chibok girls alive through military warfare.

The sect also said that air strikes by Nigerian military had killed several of the Chibok girls and left many with broken bodies and others receiving medical attention under the sect’s supervision.

The video also featured a recorded conversation between Shekau’s foot soldier and one of the abducted girls, Maida Yakubu. In it, the abducted girl urges the Nigerian government to free Boko Haram commanders who are in government detention, stating that the release of these commanders would be the only basis to regain their own freedom.

The terrorist organization Boko Haram has released another video pledging its support to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which emerged yesterday on social media sites.

The video is reportedly titled “Investigate” and was first released on March 31st, 2016.

The latest video depicting Boko Haram comes about two weeks after another video emerged on March 24th, reportedly of Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau speaking about Islam. However, analysts questioned the authenticity and timing of the video and cautioned the public from overstating its importance.

#BBB NEWS| U.S. General Says Boko Haram Still Holds Territory In Nigeria

Boko Haram still holds territory in northern Nigeria, according to David Rodriguez, commander of the U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM).

Mr. Rodriguez’s statement, addressed to the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, contradicts President Buhari’s assertion that Boko Haram does not hold any territory. At an energy summit in the UAE, the Nigerian president stated that the Nigerian Armed Forces and Multinational Joint Task Force (MJTF) had driven the terrorist insurgents from Nigerian territory.

At the Senate hearing, U.S. Senator Angus King of Maine asked Mr. Rodriguez if Boko Haram was growing, but said he knew they no longer held territory in Nigeria.

The commander responded, “Actually sir, Boko Haram does hold some significant territory in northern Nigeria, as do Al-Shabaab in limited areas of Somalia.”

The Boko Haram attack on Dalori Village, which killed scores of people, was carried out using multiple methods, the Nigerian military has said.

In its first reaction since the attack that occurred on Saturday night, the military quoted witnesses as saying the “insurgents came in two Golf cars, motorcycles, started opening fire and burning houses.”

Apart from the direct invasion, the insurgents also used three suicide bombers to attack residents as they tried to flee, the military said in its statement on Sunday afternoon.

PREMIUM TIMES had reported the attack which lasted about four hours; with scores, residents say as many as 100 people, killed.

Officials at the Maiduguri Specialists Hospital said 35 corpses were brought there after the attack, with about 100 others injured.

#BBB NEWS| Visit Boko Haram Zones, Lai Mohammed Dares Fayose

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has indirectly challenged Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, to visit the north-eastern parts of Nigeria where the war on terror is ongoing.

Mohammed, who spoke in an interactive session with journalists on Wednesday, in Ikeja, insisted that the war against terror had been largely won by the country’s troops.

He insisted that the Boko Haram sect had been reduced to a “fleeing, bomb-throwing, cowardly and disorganised army’’.

A few days ago, the Ekiti State governor had challenged Mohammed, whom he told to visit the Sambisa Forest, which is regarded as a stronghold of the sect.

Fayose had said, “Nigerians will only take the minister serious if he relocates to either Sambisa in Borno State or to Yobe State and stay there till the end of March, next year, without heavy military security.”

Despite the recent attacks in Maiduguri which left scores dead, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, maintained that President Muhammadu Buhari would “technically defeat” Boko Haram by the self-imposed December 31st deadline.

Minister Mohammed made this statement on Sunday, while addressing members of the press in Lagos. It will be recalled that on Monday morning Maiduguri was hit again by suicide bombings and that the town of Madagali, located in Adamawa State, was also hit by a twin suicide bombing. All told, at least 65 Nigerians have perished in less than 48 hours.

However, Mr. Mohammed argued that the recent attacks could not be compared to the “near war-like” situation experienced only a year ago.

#BBB NEWS| Civilian Vigilante Groups Fighting Boko Haram To Be Integrated Into Armed Forces — Defense Minister [PHOTOS]

Nigeria’s Defense Minister, Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali, on Thursday disclosed that some civilians who have been fighting alongside the Joint Task Force against Islamist insurgents will soon be integrated into the armed forces.

Mr. Muhammad Dan-Ali made the disclosure during a courtesy visit to Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State in Maiduguri, the state capital. Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, General G.A. Olanisakin, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall S.B. Abubakar, and other military officers accompanied the minister on the visit.

The minister stated that numerous civilians had supported the military in counter-insurgency operations. He also assured the people of Borno State that the end of terrorist attacks by Boko Haram insurgents would soon come.

“Since President Muhammadu Buhari’s assumption of office, we have gained more ground against Boko Haram terrorists. And I assure you the menace of Boko Haram will soon be over,” Mr. Muhammad Dan-Ali declared.

As part of their determined efforts to rid the society of all known Boko Haram terrorists enclaves and hideouts, troops of 25  Task Force Brigade based on tip-off conducted a fighting patrol along Damboa-Njaba-Bale road in Borno State.

The troops encountered and killed 3 suspected Boko Haram terrorists that had been terrorizing the communities around Sabon Gari and Damboa. Among those killed was the Boko Haram terrorists Ameer (Leader) in Bulayaga. The Ameer was notorious in terrorizing Bale, Wass and Mufurundi villages.

The troops recovered an AK-47 rifle with its magazine,  43 rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition, 1 Grinding Machine and 5 Dane Guns. Other items recovered include 7 Motorcycles,21 bags of grains and 2 Boko Haram terrorists flags hoisted.

In a related development today, troops of 7 Division Garrison on patrol at Mainari village in Mafa Local Government Area had an encounter with Boko Haram terrorists. The encounter led to the killing of 9 terrorists and recovery of  weapons which includes 4 AK-47 and 1  Pump Action Gun 
The patrol teams have continued to dominate the respective areas.

#BBB NEWS| Buhari: Boko Haram Has Killed 10,000 Displaced Millions, Calls For Assistance From Commonwealth

President Muhammadu Buhari disclosed that the war with Boko Haram has left over 10,000 Nigerians dead and more than 2 million people displaced.

The President made these remarks Friday night while attending a banquet for Queen Elizabeth II during the 2015 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Malta.

President Buhari’s remarks were relayed to members of the press by the President’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina. According to Mr. Adesina, President Buhari called for the creation of a Commonwealth Committee which would assist Nigeria and other nations impacted by the “scourge” of international terrorism.

This committee, President Buhari explained, would meet with developing nations battling terrorism.  After conferring with these nations, the committee would formulate a grand political strategy to combat terrorism. The President voiced his hopes that such a committee be created prior to the 2016 CHOGM.

#BBB NEWS| Boko Haram Fighters Attack Village In Niger, 18 Dead

On Wednesday, Boko Haram insurgents attacked a village in southeastern Niger killing 18, according to the AP.

The attackers moved into the village on motorcycles opening fire on “anything that moved”. 

The Boko Haram fighters then raided any businesses or shops in the village, before fleeing the area. Rockets were also fired according to Reuters.  The region has seen multiple attacks by Boko Haram in the past few months.

#BBB NEWS| Nigerian Army Denies Being Routed By Boko Haram In Borno State

A military spokesman, Colonel Tukur Ismail Gusau, has denied a media report that Boko Haram insurgents overran troops in Guzamala, Borno State.

The report had also claimed that the Islamist fighters killed several soldiers, adding that some soldiers, including the commanding officer of the military unit, could not be accounted for.

In a statement, Colonel Gusau stated that it was untrue that Boko Haram terrorists ransacked soldiers of the 157 Task Force Battalion in Guzamala. He also dismissed the report that the troops lost equipment to the terrorists.

He declared the report as “a fabrication from the imagination of those sympathetic to Boko Haram ways of life.”

#BBB NEWS| Wanted Suspected Boko Haram Terrorist Apprehended

The declaration of 100 suspected Boko Haram terrorists has started to pay the desired dividend as one of them was arrested as he attempted to flee.

Today at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, a man suspected to be one of the declared wanted suspected Boko Haram terrorists, Chindo Bello was apprehended by Aviation Security as he was boarding Aero Contractors’ Airline flight to Lagos.

The suspect has since been handed over to the military intelligence for interrogation and prosecution.

#BBB NEWS| Army Rescued 20 In Borno, Cleared Out Terrorist Enclaves In Rigaga Area

The Nigerian army has rescued 20 people during an offensive operation against Boko Haram which cleared out Boko Haram camps and killed some terrorists, a 7th Division Army spokesman Colonel IT Gusau said.

The spokesman issued a press release stating ''the troops of 103 Battalion under 21 Brigade early this morning conducted a 23 kilometer wide clearance operation in RIGAGA and its adjourning villages in BAMA Axis. The operation recorded a major success.  Four Boko Haram terrorist enclaves along the route of operations were cleared and a number of terrorists were killed, while two were captured alive and are currently undergoing interrogation in accordance with the Nigerian Army rules of engagement.''

The statement further said ''our troops also rescued twenty people held in captivity by the terrorists in the area. They include fourteen children and six women who are currently receiving medical treatment and other necessary attention in our facility.'' ‎

#BBB NEWS| United States Offers Niger Surveillance Planes As Boko Haram Attacks Continue

The United States offered Niger two military surveillance planes Wednesday as attacks by suspected Boko Haram extremists continued in the country’s south-east region bordering Nigeria.

Two Niger soldiers were killed and several injured Wednesday in a foiled suicide attack by suspected Boko Haram fighters, Defence Minister Mahamadou Karidjo said.

Karidjo spoke as he took possession of two Cessna C-208 planes equipped with intelligence and reconnaissance systems, as well as around 30 military vehicles and ambulances. A US official said the aid was worth around 32 million euros.

The aircraft “will enable Niger’s armed forces to identify local threats and better secure the border,” said US Ambassador Eunice Reddick.

The United States is sending 300 US troops, along with surveillance drones, to Cameroon to bolster a West African effort to counter the Nigerian militant Islamist group Boko Haram, US officials said on Wednesday. (pictured above) US Marines in Nigeria

In a notification to Congress, President Barack Obama said an advance force of about 90 military personnel began deploying on Monday to Cameroon, with the consent of the Yaounde government.

The troops will “conduct airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations in the region,” Obama said. “These forces are equipped with weapons for the purpose of providing their own force protection and security, and they will remain in Cameroon until their support is no longer needed.”

US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the troops would provide intelligence to a multi-national task force being set up to fight Boko Haram and composed of troops from Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, Chad and Benin.

Early today, two female suicide bombers suspected to be members of the terror group  killed nine people in Kangeleri, near the town of Mora in Cameroon’s Far North region early on Sunday, local government and military sources said.

The group has proclaimed an Islamic emirate in neighbouring northeastern Nigeria, enforcing a brutal interpretation of Islamic law, and also pushed into neighbouring countries.

On Saturday, five suicide bombers had killed over 30 people  in a part of Chad that borders Nigeria.

Nigeria’s Boko Haram militants, who have pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, have claimed responsibility for a series of suicide bombings near the Nigerian capital that killed 18 people and left dozens wounded last week.

The terrorist group released a statement on Twitter on Sunday along with three photos of suicide attackers involved in Friday’s deadly blasts.

The first two attacks happened in Kuje township, where a suicide bomber attacked a police station while another bomb was detonated at a nearby market. The third device exploded in Nyanya at a bus stop.

According to the latest death toll, 18 people lost their lives, while 41 others were injured, according to Abuja Zonal, the Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency.
