#BBB NEWS| No Election Rigging Took Place In The Southeast - Jega

Professor Attahiru Jega, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has denied claims that rigging or vote manipulation took place in Nigeria's Southeast or Jigawa State, claiming that INEC has not received any reports about any such events.

The INEC chairman confirmed that an INEC office in heated Rivers State was “torched”, mentioning that the Commission was investigating. The claims of INEC staff being substituted by untrained personnel at polling places were being investigated as well, according to the chairman.

“I have no information whatsoever about military interfering or working for a political party,”
he announced, replying to reporters who asked about Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha’s claims of military interference in the state. Further, the chairman denied reports of military intervention in collation centers in the Southeast. He urged reporters to press the Imo State governor for more information.

When questioned about governors summoning INEC officers to do their will (in Jigawa and Bauchi), the chairman admitted that he had no received no reports of that and would be “surprised” if state resident electoral commisisoiners “succumbed” to such summons.
