According to The New York Daily News, Mayweather’s ex, Josie Harris, is suing the undefeated boxing champion for more than $20 million after Mayweather labeled her a drug addict.
The lawsuit all stems from a sit-down interview Mayweather, 38, had with Katie Couric two weeks before the match with Pacquiao. During the interview, Mayweather said he held back a drugged-up Harris during their 2010 domestic violence incident, which resulted in the boxing champ serving a 90 day prison sentence in 2011.
“Did I kick, stomp and beat someone? No, that didn’t happen,”Floyd told Couric. “Did I restrain a woman that was on drugs? Yes, I did. So if they say that’s domestic violence, then, you know what? I’m guilty. I’m guilty of restraining someone.”
Harris’ lawyer, Dan Friedlander, wrote in the lawsuit, Mayweather used the interview with Couric as a way to hype up his upcoming fight with Pacquiao and to “to avoid bad press by deflecting responsibility for beating the mother of his children.”
