The forthcoming Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me has fans patiently waiting to see the short yet impactful life of the passionate rapper and activist on the big screen.

Sunday night (May 8) at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards, stars from the Benny Boom directed film were on hand to premiere an exclusive clip from the film.

In the short scene, Tupac recites a poem written for Jada Pinkett. While nervous at first–Pac, played by Demetrius Shipp Jr–pulls the handwritten note from his back pocket and begins reading and quickly the playful moment becomes serious yet heartwarming.

“You are the Omega of my heart. The foundation for my conception of love. When I think of what a black woman should be, it’s you that I first think of.”

Tupac Shakur was taken from hip-hop more than 20 years ago, but his impact is still as potent and as palpable as ever. Hitting theaters on what would’ve been the rapper’s 46th birthday, director Benny Boom gives fans a sneak peak with a second full length trailer to the highly anticipated film All Eyez On Me.

Starring Demetrius Shipp Jr., who bears and uncanny and almost eery resemblance to Tupac, in the two minute and 30 second clip fans see a young ‘Pac sitting in the audience of a Black Panther meeting, then him in his teenage years witnessing police brutality, the first time he enters the recording booth all the way up to his fame, jail time and unfortunate death.

The star-studded cast working alongside Shipp include The Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira as Afeni Shakur, Kat Graham as childhood friend Jada Pinkett, and Jamal Woolard who plays friend turned foe, Biggie Smalls.

Benny Boom blessed the Internet with a new teaser clip from his upcoming Tupac biopic, All Eyez On Me, yesterday morning (Sept 13). On the 20th anniversary of the iconic rapper’s passing we witness actor Demetrius Shipp Jr. bring the energy of the legend to the film.

We also get a peak at Danai Gurira of The Walking Dead, playing Pac’s mother Afeni Shakur in the newly released clip. She gives him some sound advice as he rises to the top of the rap charts. It’s definitely a bone chilling moment for the fans to take in.

Currently, the film has a set release date of Nov. 11, 2016.

Tupac’s All Eyez On Me biopic is gearing up for a major release soon, and its famed director, Benny Boom, is revealing the inner workings of putting together the film on the iconic artist.

In an interview with XXL, Boom spoke on the deeper meaning of the motion picture and the casting of Demetrius Shipp Jr. as the “Changes” rapper. “Demetrius 1,000 percent embodies everything that Tupac did,” he said. “Sometimes I have to go back and just look to remember like “Oh, this is Tupac,” and not get lost in Demetrius’ portrayal of Tupac because he’s doing it so well.”

Boom also shared that this opportunity sits at the top of his list of cinematic achievements. “To be able to direct a film about the most iconic, I would say first off, the most iconic hip-hop figure. That’s No. 1. [Tupac] is the Elvis Presley of our generation. He is Beethoven to the 15th, 16th century,” he said. “He is the artist. So, to be able to direct to have the opportunity to direct the film about him, is big for anyone. Anyone who would have gotten this chance to direct the film, I think this is a high point for them. No matter where they came from or what other films they’ve done before.”

After having a slew of director replacements, and a hefty multi-million dollar lawsuit—Tupac’s biopic, All Eyez On Me finally has begun production.

The making of the highly anticipated film came just in time, due to reports surfacing of a previous lawsuit from the late rapper’s mother, Afeni Shakur. The lawsuit claimed that the film could only gain the rights to Pac’s original music if the production took off within the time span of this year.

The good news was unearthed through a few of L.T. Hutton’s Instagram posts, which showcase a collage of photos featuring production meetings; film equipment; and a director’s chair. Hutton is a music producer and former A&R at Ruthless and Interscope Records, according to Uproxx. He is working with Morgan Creek Films to produce the biopic.
