#BBB NEWS| Nas, A$AP Rocky, And Jennifer Hudson To Star In Film Adaptation Of Novel By Walter Dean Myers

Nas, A$AP Rocky, and Jennifer Hudson are set to star in the upcoming film, Monster, based off the 1999 novel by Walter Dean Myers.

According to Deadline, the film is a partnership effort between John Legend’s Get Lifted Productions, Bron Studios, and Tonika Productions.

The plot involves a teenage honor students, Steve Harmon (changed to Harrison in the film), wrongfully accused of murder, and his journey through trial.

#BBB NEWS| Aretha Franklin On Her Upcoming Biopic: 'We're Ready To Sign For The Movie'

Aretha Franklin is kicking into high gear. Back in 2011, the Queen of Soul announced she was working on a biopic of her iconic life, after almost a five-year hiatus, she says she has plans to really follow through.

“Good news, we’re ready to sign for the movie,” The singer said in an interview, according to Billboard.

The exciting news was matched by even more great news, when the “Respect” singer revealed she has been trying to link with Scott Bernstein, who produced the highly acclaimed biopic for N.W.A., Straight Outta Compton.

“We’ve agreed on all the key points. There’s very little left now (to negotiate), very little. They have given me creative control and that’s all I wanted,” she said.

#BBB NEWS| Killer Of Jennifer Hudson’s Family Speaks Out For The First Time, Proclaims He’s Innocent

In 2008, Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew were brutally killed. Her sister’s estranged husband, William Balfour, was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder for the act, and sentenced to life behind bars in 2012.

In his first interview since his conviction, Balfour is claiming that he is innocent.

“I didn’t have nothing to do with her family being killed. Period,” Balfour told ABC 7’s I-Team. “I didn’t have nothing to do with the case and don’t know who had anything to do with the case.”
Evidence in the case pointed to Balfour, as gun residue was found on his clothing and the steering wheel of his vehicle. He was also found with the keys to the the stolen SUV where the 7-year-old was found shot to death. Witnesses came forward to identify Balfour as well, noting that he was carrying a black and silver pistol. According to police records, Balfour also had a long rap sheet that included gang activity and a 1992 attempted murder conviction. According to him, however, he now serves a life sentence because of a conspiracy by Chicago police, who he says planted the evidence against him in the triple murder.
