In the midst of a very eventful Revolt Music Conference this past weekend (Oct. 16), famed rapper Nas was awarded the well deserved Jimmy Iovine Icon Award.

After thanking his Revolt staff, Sean “Diddy” Combs breaks down Nas’ influence on him and the competitive sport that is hip hop. Combs, the owner of Revolt TV, revealed stories of sharing jewelry with Nas, and admiring the Queensbridge native’s swag from his kicks to his clothes.

Alongside these recollections, he reminded the audience that Nas came correct during his lyrical battle with the great Jay Z.

Nas, A$AP Rocky, and Jennifer Hudson are set to star in the upcoming film, Monster, based off the 1999 novel by Walter Dean Myers.

According to Deadline, the film is a partnership effort between John Legend’s Get Lifted Productions, Bron Studios, and Tonika Productions.

The plot involves a teenage honor students, Steve Harmon (changed to Harrison in the film), wrongfully accused of murder, and his journey through trial.

This week, Khaled unveiled another major video by rolling out the Eiff Rivera-directed mini-film, “Nas Album Done.” Here,  Nas, Khaled and Ox, from the movie Belly, relax in the tropical waters of the Bahamas, smoke cigars, and dance next to flawless women.

At the beginning and end of the video, OX and Khaled trade amusing, yet uplifting words for the youth and those trapped in the ghetto.

“Nas Album Done” is featured on Khaled’s recently released album, Major Key.

The 2016 Met Gala saw a number of celebs flaunting gorgeous garbs on the red carpet, but the main event was inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with some big name performers taking the stage.

The night’s headlining performer, The Weeknd, performed hits like “The Hills” and “Tell Your Friends,” a song in which a very special and unexpected guest joined him on stage. Nas treated fans to a few bars on the song, which brought them to their feet.

Nas is joining forces with Sony Pictures Consumer Marketing for a top of the line Ghostbusters edition clothing line, which is inspired by the classic film.

This couldn’t be a better fit for the legendary rapper who is a huge Ghostbusters fan himself. “What kid doesn’t get inspired or intrigued by ghost stories?,” Nas questioned on the promotional video for the clothing campaign in partnership with HYPEBEAST. “Ghostbusters is every fun thing you can think of when it comes to the imagination when you think of supernatural or paranormal activity.”

Essentially, the anchor brand for this partnership is Nas’ HSTRY brand which its theme is his experience growing up in the 80’s and 90’s. Nas x Ghostbuster is also teaming up with six other brands including: New Era (hats), FILA (footwear), Monster (for headphones), Italia Independent (for eyewear) and Tokyobike (for bikes).

At the end of 2014, Nas hit us with a fly soliloquy with the J Dilla-produced track, “The Season.”  Recently, Dilla and Nas’ camp announced that Mass Appeal Records is releasing Dilla’s highly anticipated album, The Diary.

Since SXSW has the attention of the hip-hop world, Esco decided to use the famous music festival to premiere “The Sickness,” a song with Dilla. While “The Sickness” doesn’t have the best quality because of the live recording, you can still hear Nasty keeping it nasty.

There have been talks of Nas dropping The Lost Tapes 2 in the near future. Let’s hope so, because hip-hop heads can always use a Nas album.

Nas has been giving his mighty touch to a number of artists this year. After collaborating on Justin Bieber’s recent album, Purpose, Nas is lending an almighty hand as to Erykah Badu’s upcoming film, The Land as the executive producer, Variety reports.

The soul singer’s new film, which will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, chronicles the coming-of-age tale of four teenagers from Cleveland, Ohio as they strive to make a better life. The Steve Caple Jr.-written film will also star Badu alongside Michael K. Williams.

And while Ms. Badu shows her cinematic talent in front of the camera, Nas will be showing off his behind the scenes. Named the executive producer of the film, Nas will be taking a seat at the table, helping craft the film and its soundtrack.

It was billed as the epic event of the year; a ridiculously lofty title that even within the razzle dazzle showbiz universe we live in can come off as pure, eye rolling hype.

But even if Tuesday’s (October 20) buzz-heavy, star-studded Tidal X concert at Brooklyn’s Barclay Center—headlined by Jay Z and Beyonce, and backed up by the roaring likes of Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Meek Mill, French Montana, Usher, Nick Jonas, Nas, and Lil Wayne—didn’t have extended set lists by these music mavens (all did one or two songs, yet the consensus is the head-banging, hair whipping Queen Bey stole the show), the sheer star power of it all was still impressive.

Yet for the thousands of fans who were a part of the fast-paced festivities, a chest-beating statement to celebrate 1 million subscribers of the Jay Z owned streaming music service Tidal, the nonprofit charity show featured an omnipresent brand throughout the main stage of the arena home of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets as well as behind-the-scenes: D’USSE cognac. Of course, this was by no means some ham-fisted advertising ploy.

Nasir Jones now has another accolade to add to his legacy. The veteran rapper was honored with the W.E.B. DuBois Medal during a ceremony at Harvard University on Wednesday (Sept. 30), the Associated Press reports.

The Queens native received the award for his involvement and contributions to culture, human rights, and the arts central to the African and African-American community.

Other recipients alongside the “Cherry Wine” lyricist includes the legendary Muhammad Ali, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, and Marian Wright Edelman who’s the founder and president of the Children’s Defense Fund.

Two years ago, Harvard established the Nasir Jones Fellowship which sought to uncover “projects from scholars and artists that build on the rich and complex hip-hop tradition.”

Sprite teamed up with several artists to display their lyrics on the famous lime-green soda can for their new Obey Your Thirst campaign. Cameras followed Drizzy Drake and learned exactly who the “0-100″ emcee deems competition and now it’s Nas’ turn to explain the ins and outs of his process as an artist.

In the 30-second trailer, Nas takes fans on a walk through New York City, to the studio and then the stage. The Illmatic emcee explains that while growing up in Queensbridge, his desire to have a voice superseded everything and was the motivation he used to become one of hip-hop’s most formidable emcees.

Hip-Hop heads far and wide can be rest assured the inaugural One Love Hip-Hop Festival will bring something special to the summer festival season.

Organizers announced the lineup for the festival, which will take place in Canada’s Shaw Millennium Park. J.Cole, Wale, Raekwon, Queens native and hip-hop legend Nas, Machine Gun Kelly, and Travis $cott will all grace the stage.

The festivities will take place Sept. 5 and tickets for the outside event go on sale May 29 and range from $79.95 to V.I.P. passes for those 18 and older at $129.

Nas has been spotted in Barbados with Vanessa Bronfman, daughter of billionaire music industry executive and Seagram’s heir Edgar Bronfman Jr.

Sources told the New York Post that Nas is “totally smitten” with Vanessa.

However, Nas’s rep is playing it cool, saying the pair are just “friends” whose presence together on the island was a “complete coincidence.”

There isn’t much information about Vanessa, although she has two fairly well known siblings. Her older brother, who goes by Ben Brewer, is the baby daddy to M.I.A.’s notoriously named son Ikhyd. Her younger sister is fashionista and celebrity DJ Hannah Bronfman.
