A Boko Haram kingpin operating in Damboa, Chibok and Askira axis of Borno State, has been arrested.

Jarasu Shira was on Wednesday morning arrested at a motor park in Damboa.

He was arrested at the park at about 8:30am along with 10 other suspected members of the group who escorted him to Damboa to connect a vehicle to Biu en route Lagos.

They were arrested by men of the vigilante (Civilian Joint Task Force, JTF) who are providing support to the Nigeria military battling the militant group.

A former Governor of Kebbi state Usman Dakingari has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations that he laundered N3.8 billion from the state.

Mr. Dakingari was detained at the EFCC headquarters around 10 AM Nigerian time. He is currently undergoing interrogation at the hands of EFCC investigators.

Mr. Dakingari is an in-law to late Nigerian President Umaru Musa Yar’dua.

Recently, the EFCC arrested Mr. Dakingari’s wife, Zainab. She was accused of laundering N2billion for her husband.

A Lagos-based Cameroonian journalist, Simon Ateba, has been arrested by Cameroonian authorities as he investigated the conditions of Nigerian refugees camped in the country’s far north.

The journalist, who managed to leave a message on his Facebook page before he was locked up Friday, said he was arrested for venturing, without permission, into a refugee camp with 50,000 Nigerians.

He later told a colleague that the authorities were threatening to charge him for espionage – saying they suspect he was spying for the extremist Boko Haram sect.

PREMIUM TIMES learnt that Mr. Ateba received a grant from the International Centre for Investigative Reporting, Abuja, to investigate the ordeals and suffering of Nigerians who fled into Cameroon as their communities came under sustained attacks from the extremist Boko Haram sect.

After an appearance in Sweden on Saturday night (July 25), Snoop Dogg was arrested by authorities for suspicion of use of narcotics. His vehicle was pulled over, and officers transported him to a police station where he was ordered to take a drug test.

While in the back of the cop car, the rapper recorded a video message, which was posted to Instagram on Sunday (July 26).

“N***as got me in the back of police car right now in Sweden, cuz,” Snoop said in the clip. “Pulled a n***a over for nothing, taking us to the station where I gotta pee in a cup for nothing. I ain’t did nothing. All I did was came to the country and did a concert. And now I gotta go to the police station, for nothing.”

Sweden boasts a zero-tolerance policy with regard to the use of drugs. The country criminalized marijuana back in 1988, leading to a lower use of cannabis among students compared to that of other European countries. And while Snoop maintained that he was not involved in any illegal activity, Daniel Nilsson, a spokesperson for the Swedish capital said that he seemed to be under the influence.

Reporter Mike Petchenik from Atlanta WSB-TV says there’s an indictment related to the shooting of Weezy’s tour — which took place back in April. In the court documents, authorities claim Birdman and Young Thug conspired to kill Lil’ Wayne.

This order was reportedly carried out by shooting suspect Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, who remains in police custody over the matter.

Winfrey was was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of a firearm by a felon, and criminal gang activity in connection with the tour bus shooting. He formerly acted as Thug’s manager and is known to be a close associate of the rapper.

Rick Ross got arrested in Georgia yet again. Early Wednesday morning (June 24), The MMG head honcho and his bodyguard were reportedly taken into custody by the Metro Atlanta Fugitive Task Force for charges including kidnapping, aggravated assault and aggravated battery.

“According to sources, Ross was having work done on the property he bought in Fayette County,” WSBTV said. “Ross allegedly got into a fight with one of the workers and pistol-whipped him.”

#BBB NEWS| Sports: U.S. Indicts World Soccer Officials in Alleged $150 Million FIFA Bribery Scandal

The Justice Department unsealed a 47 count indictment early Wednesday charging 14 world soccer figures, including officials of FIFA, with racketeering, bribery, money laundering and fraud. Four of those accused, including two sports marketing companies, have already pleaded guilty and are likely to be cooperating.

Among the “alleged schemes,” said the Justice Department, were kickbacks to FIFA officials by executives and companies involved in soccer marketing and “bribes and kickbacks in connection” with “the selection of the host country for the 2010 World Cup and the 2011 FIFA presidential election,” the Justice Department said.

Swiss prosecutors, in a related announcement, said they had opened criminal proceedings against unidentified individuals on suspicion of mismanagement and money laundering related to the awarding of rights to host the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
