World’s fastest man Usain Bolt won the final of the 100m race ‎in record-breaking fashion as he became the first athlete ever to win three Olympic 100m titles.

The 29-year-old ran 9.81 seconds in his final Olympics event to replicate his success at both Beijing in 2008 and London Olympics in 2012 to finish ahead of America’s Justin Gatlin (9.89secs) and Canada’s Andre de Grasse (9.91secs).

He remains on course to win a third successive Olympic treble‎ and a ninth gold having won the 100m, 200m, and 4X100m relay titles in 2008 and 2012.

In writing the letter, you appear to have been bitten by a bug that often blinds the objectivity of a man. You have been bitten by an ambition that you fear you shall not be able to realize. In your pursuit of office, you have sought my support and influence. When you sought that support, you thought it proper and democratic to do so. #BBB NEWS| Meet Us In The Creeks, Niger Delta Avengers Dares Army, Navy Chiefs

The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) this morning, confronted the Commander of Operation Delta Safe, Rear Admiral Joseph Okojie and Commanding Officer, NNS Delta, Commodore Joseph Dzunye, asking them to come to the creeks of the Niger Delta, rather than stay in the cities and arrest “sleeper” agents, who they brand as NDA members to curry favour from their superiors.

Spokesperson of NDA, self-styled Brig General Mudoch Agbinibo, threw the challenge in a statement rebutting the claim by NNS Delta commander on Saturday that two suspects, Stanley Tonghan and Felix Miyenminiye, arrested by the navy, few days ago, were members of the militant group.

NDA said that the two suspects were agents working in conjunction with security agencies and were paid N5 million by two leaders (names withheld) to give Nigeria military intelligence on the activities of the group.

The statement read: “We made it clear that the Nigeria military is using sleepers’ agents to track or checkmate the activities and operation of the Niger Delta Avengers. But the more they try, the more they run into crisis with their employed sleeper agents.

Abubakar Shekau, factional leader of Islamist insurgency group, Jama’atu Ahlus-Sunnah lil-Da’awati wal Jihad, commonly known as Boko Haram, in a just-released video stated that his group married off more than 40 Chibok schoolgirls the sect abducted two years ago in Borno State.

In the video, which runs 10 minutes and 22 seconds, released on Mr. Shekau’s behalf by one of his lieutenants dressed in a green camouflage, wielding a gun and surrounded by some of the Chibok girls said, Boko Haram dared the Nigerian military to capture the Chibok girls alive through military warfare.

The sect also said that air strikes by Nigerian military had killed several of the Chibok girls and left many with broken bodies and others receiving medical attention under the sect’s supervision.

The video also featured a recorded conversation between Shekau’s foot soldier and one of the abducted girls, Maida Yakubu. In it, the abducted girl urges the Nigerian government to free Boko Haram commanders who are in government detention, stating that the release of these commanders would be the only basis to regain their own freedom.

A democracy rights activist and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Ondo State, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, has described APC "National Leader," Bola Tinubu, as a man who frustrates the democratic aspirations of Nigerians through his dictatorial tendencies.

Abayomi, who admitted he has great admiration  for Tinubu’s contributions to the return of civil rule and his political sagacity, dropped the bombshell in a letter to the APC chieftain titled “The Tonic Of Democracy Is The Right Of The People To Choose Their Leaders,” the letter traced the history of the duo through the days of struggle for democracy under the military to the return of self-rule and Abayomi’s decision to join the Alliance for Democracy (AD), the political platform under which Tinubu became the governor of Lagos state in 1999.

The lawyer said there are hints that Tinubu is about imposing a candidate on the APC branch of the party in Ondo state before its August 27 primaries and warned him to stop his bid to tamper with the will of the party.

According to Abayomi, some APC leaders met with Tinubu on July  31 at a meeting, he alleged, was held to ensure that the primaries will be a procession for Tinubu’s candidate rather than a free and fair contest among aspirants.

Abubakar Shekau, the leader of the extremist Boko Haram sect, has in a new video threatened fresh but more vicious attacks on the Nigerian state even as he battles Abu Mussab Albarnawi the son of his erstwhile leader, Muhammed Yusuf, to retain the leadership and control of the outlawed group.

In the new video, Mr Shekau, who paraded a large number of his men and munitions, was quiet while one of his masked lieutenants read out a statement that reiterated their unflagging loyalty for to him while denouncing ISIS’ choice of Mr. Albarnawi as its West African ‘Wali’ (leader).

The 24-minute video, which was partly in Arabic and ended largely in Hausa, had the group issuing direct threats to the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Butatai and the spokesman of the Nigeria Army, Sani Usman, whom they labeled as their avowed enemies and infidels.

The group expressed angst displeasure with Albagdadhi-led ISIS for recognising Mr. Albarnawi as the new leader of Boko Haram in West Africa. It however failed to withdraw its loyalty to Mr. Albagdadhi whom they repeatedly referred to as Khalifa (Supreme leader) – an indication that Boko Haram is still very much comfortable being under the stronger umbrella of ISIS.

Kudos are in order for Mr. West. Kanye West’s 40th song on the Billboard Top 40 song chart—the Schoolboy Q song “That Part,” in which he is featured on—puts the rapper on the top ten list of male artists with the most songs on the Top 40 chart in history.

With this new achievement, he is one Top 40 hit ahead of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, who had 39 by the time he passed away.

Yeezy is not the only male musician from the 2000s and beyond who have accomplished this feat. Lil Wayne has the second highest number of Top 40 entries, right behind Elvis Presley. Drake is in 4th place as of now, while Jay Z and Chris Brown also make the list in 6th and 8th place, respectively.

With an alleged joint album between him and Drake, it looks like Kanye and Drizzy will have more entries on the Billboard chart to catapult them further on the list.

Michael Jordan gave $5 million to the National Museum of African American History & Culture, opening at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. next month. Jordan’s multi-million dollar donation was announced Monday, the Associated Press reports.

According to a statement from the NBA great, he was moved to make the donation in memory of four-time Olympic gold medalist, Jessie Owens, and other black athletes who paved the way for him and others.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to support this museum,” Jordan, 53, said in a statement. “I also am indebted to the historic contributions of community leaders and athletes such as Jesse Owens, whose talent, commitment and perseverance broke racial barriers and laid the groundwork for the successful careers of so many African Americans in athletics and beyond.”

The donation is the largest among given by an athlete to the Smithsonian, and will specifically aid in the museum’s exhibit exploring “how sports were used to break barriers as a way to gain full participation in American society.”

“It’s a great day for us, we are using this as always to push us,” he explained to The Gleaner, “This is normally the time when we push forward in the Olympics and we will enjoy the day as always so have fun and love each other.” On August 6, 1962, the nation was officially granted its Independence from England and became an independent country.

In addition to Jamaicans now having access to equal rights, it symbolized the birth of a new nation.

Like every Olympic competition, all eyes are on Bolt as he makes his return to the Men’s Track and Feild 100m, 200m and Men’s 4x100m relay, respectively next week. Known for being the fastest man in the world, the 29-year-old became the first player to win six gold medals in the sprinting category.

Mary J. Blige isn’t keeping the public guessing after rumors of her impending divorce to husband and longtime manager Martin “Kendu” Isaacs made headlines yesterday (July 28).

A member of the R&B veteran’s camp released a statement to People to confirm the news that Blige’s marriage has run its course after 13 years. “Ms. Blige is saddened to say it is true that she has filed for divorce, saying sometimes things don’t work how we hoped they would,” the rep said. “But, there is a divine plan and a reason for everything.”

Blige has reportedly cited irreconcilable differences as the source of her divorce and has pursued termination of spousal support.

“There has never been a man or a woman, not me, not Bill, not anybody more qualified than Hillary Clinton to serve as president of the United States of America” said Obama.

After 13 years of marriage, singer and actress Mary J. Blige has filed for divorce from her husband and manager Martin “Kendu” Isaacs, according to TMZ.

Blige and Isaacs got married in 2003, and Blige has listed irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. She has also reportedly asked the judge to block Isaacs’ ability to pursue alimony.

While the exact reasoning for this split currently remains unknown, there have been signals of trust issues coming from this now ex-couple in the past. Specifically, the No More Drama singer does not believe married people should have friends of the opposite sex.

#BBB NEWS| Drake’s “VIEWS” Takes Number One Spot On The Billboard 200 Chart for 11th Week

Drake’s Views remains atop the Billboard charts as the number one album for an 11th time. After nine consecutive weeks on top, Views was shortly dethroned by Blink 182’s California earlier in July, but is now back in the number one spot for the last two weeks.

The Canadian rapper’s fourth LP has the most weeks at number one since Taylor Swift’s 2014 album, “1989”, which was last seen at number one for the week of February 21st, 2015.

Views sold 89,000 album units for the week ending July 21st, even though 64% of the sales are from streaming. Sales dropped three percent from last week according to Billboard.

In the last 20 years, Views is only one of eight albums to attain the number one spot for at least 11 weeks.

#BBB NEWS| Dr. Dre Cuffed After Alleged Racial Incident Outside His Home [PHOTO]

There was quite a scene in front of Dr. Dre’s Malibu crib yesterday. The legendary rapper was cuffed right outside of his gate after police got a 911 call claiming the 51-year old waved a gun at a motorist who had stopped his car in front of his pad.

Dre admits to asking the driver to move because he was blocking his driveway. But he says he had no gun.

Dre’s sources tell TMZ the motorist began cursing Dre, and said “Here we go again another black guy with a gun.” They also say Dre recorded the whole incident.

The cops didn’t find a weapon on Dre. TMZ reports that the motorist still tried to make a citizens arrest on Dre.

Although the deputies declined to make a physical arrest, it’s still unclear if Dre was charged with anything. See photo below;

Melania Trump, wife of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, gave a speech during the first day of the 2016 Republican National Convention that bore striking similarities to a speech given by First Lady Michelle Obama in 2008.

The Trump campaign has denied allegations that Mrs. Trump knowingly lifted passages from Mrs. Obama’s 2008 speech, calling the accusations “absurd.”

But when one compares a portion of Mrs. Trump’s speech with the First Lady’s 2008 Democratic National Convention speech, the similarities between the two become apparent.

Mrs. Trump said:

“From a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life. That your word is your bond; that you do what you say and keep your promise. That you treat people with respect. They taught and showed me values and morals in their daily life. That is a lesson that I continue to pass along to our son and we need to pass those lessons to the many generations that follow. According to Deborah Rayner, an SVP for news gathering at CNN International, Nigerian native Stephanie Busari will lead the operation. “This is a truly integrated role, and one that underlines CNN’s commitment to both Nigeria and Africa as a whole,” Rayner began. “Stephanie will work across our platforms on both news and feature content.

In particular, she will head CNN’s Africa content across digital – responding to breaking news and managing our Africa features projects.  She will also be central to CNN International’s coverage of the continent on television.”

The music moguls had been accused of copyright infringement by Michael Medina, the founder of a New York Latin band of the same name.

The two parties were essentially disputing over their classification of the project. Medina insisted that the project was a music video that was created with his Latin duo in mind due to parts of the film being set to music and various mentions of the slang term, which means “Lower East Siders.” West and Dash consider the project a film that was created without regard to or knowledge of the Bachata duo.

You have to match hate with love, and that’s what we came for today.”

The issue, I understand, is the flaunting of religious markers in public educational institutions. Let me begin by confessing that I envy the French to whom those choices have only been recently thrust to the fore – they have always been with us in Nigeria. I also envy those to whom the issues are straightforward, and permit of dogmatic positions.

In normal circumstances, perhaps I would agree that it should be a non-issue. It is tempting to simplify the debate by evoking the nature of club membership - a public school has certain rules, and if you wish to be a member, or make use of its facilities, then you must conform to those rules or seek alternatives elsewhere.

However, the world we inhabit has changed vastly and dramatically over the past few decades, and club rules – like race or sex differentiated membership rules - are no longer sacrosanct. In addition, the genie is out of the bottle and the beasts of intolerance, suspicion and polarization stalk the streets. Dialogue is mostly relegated to the status of a poor relation of terror and intimidation, barely tolerated, often mocked. Conscious of the fact that the present dialogue is being conducted within such an atmosphere, it may be helpful if I began with a reference to my personal response when a directly contrary policy was announced in my own country, Nigeria,  and not just recently. It happened about twenty years ago, long before the introduction of the Sharia – the Islamic law – in a number of states within the country.

 Detectives have traced about N4.745billion of the diverted $2. 1billion arms cash to a former Minister of State (Defence),  Musiliu Obanikoro and Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The cash was sourced from the SAS Imprest Account of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) under ex-NSA Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) prior to the conduct of the June 21, 2014 Ekiti State governorship election, according to an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigation.

Others linked with the sharing of the slush funds include Fayose’s associate, Abiodun Agbele (Alias Abbey); Mrs. Helen Olayemi Fayose; Obanikoro’s sons — Gbolahan and Babajide —  Ikenna Ezekwe; Sylvan Mcnamara Limited(a company allegedly  run by the Obanikoros); Spotless Hotel, owned by Fayose and De Privateer Limited, which is owned by  Agbele.

About 30 bureaux de change changed N759, 384, 300 (out of the N4.745billion) into dollars.

It is time to call a spade a spade or, in this instance, name the Nigerian media camera a weapon of mass obstruction. What used to be mere occasional infraction, soon corrected, is fast becoming a Bill of Rights – for a minuscule sector of the professional community. We are galloping towards an order of social fascism of which - it must also be stressed - that same society is the prime facilitator of its doom.

There are times when tolerance becomes acceptance, then tacit and even overt encouragement. Otherwise, why does it take so long to make the media photographer understand that he or she has no fundamental viewing right that overrides those of the lowest member of any gathering, anywhere and under any circumstance. Let us not beat around the bush – mobsters have taken over community, armed with nothing more lethal than the camera and a monstrous will to capture and monopolize space that belongs to the totality.

The media camera has become a pest, an aggressive voyeur. Its wielders imagine that they own the world and its contents, that they have a divinely endowed right over the rights of all others, be they paying audience, invited guests, families, participating others, and indeed – most insolent of all – even the event initiators and rightful proprietors.

Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN); a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Niyi Akintola, and the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, have condemned the proposed life pension and immunity for National Assembly leaders.

While SERAP and the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders described the proposed life pension and immunity for Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, as self-serving and despicable, Falana called it “insensitive, irrational and immoral.”

Akintola said the call for such incentives for the National Assembly leaders was unreasonable.

Falana and Akintola called on Nigerians to rise against the proposal.

The immunity and life pension for the presiding officers were proposed by some senators at a retreat on constitution review organised by the Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Constitution Review in Lagos on Saturday.

#BBB NEWS| EFCC Seizes Ex-Oil Minister Diezani’s N3.58bn Abuja Home [PHOTO]

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has seized a mansion worth N3.58bn ($18m at the official exchange rate of N199 to a dollar) in the Asokoro area of Abuja allegedly belonging to the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The acting Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, said this during an interview with Al-Jazeera, a Qatar-based news network.

Magu, in the interview, monitored by our correspondent on Monday, noted that the items in the house included jewellery, furniture, and a bulletproof gym worth about $2m.

He stated that the house was part of the $10bn in cash and assets that had been seized by the Federal Government in the last one year.

“We have been able to take on a lot of big shots that were hitherto untouchable in the three arms of the military, political class. We have recorded 164 convictions in just one year,” he said.
