The idea of Dr. Dre and DJ Premier working together is a hip-hop nerd’s wet dream.

A photo of them working together may signify that two of the greatest producers the genre has seen are trying to turn said dreams into reality.

Keen eyes caught the pair together over the weekend and the Internet went crazy. We just hope it arrives sooner than that mythical Dr. Dre album that may never happen now.

The President said this while responding to the welcome remarks by President Barack Obama before the start of the bilateral meeting between officials of both countries at the Oval Office of the White House, Washington DC on the second day of the visit.

President Buhari, who noted that without the external pressure, “we would not be where we are today” in Nigeria, recalled that the pressure started from the visit of the United States Secretary of State, John Kerry to the past Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday said it would neither be prudent nor serve the interests of sound government for him to have formed his cabinet immediately he was inaugurated on May 29.

He said it was necessary for the country to first put new rules of conduct and good governance in place before he could make critical appointments into his government.

Buhari made the clarification in his article titled, “Nigeria committed to good governance and fighting terror”, published by the Washington Post ahead of his historic meeting with President Barack Obama of United States.

He said it was noteworthy that Obama himself did not have his full cabinet in place for several months after first taking office.

Hosted by the First Lady herself Michelle Obama, the event is apart of the 2015 Beating the Odds Summit that will take place this Thursday (July 23), hosting over 130 college-bound students in the nation’s capital.

The “Ambition” rapper will perform for the rising college stars and clutch a spot on an E! News panel with Mrs. Obama, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and co-founder of college student network 1vyG, Manuel Contreras. The students to attend stem from all different walks of life, including urban, impoverished, foster and homeless backgrounds.

The Office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) has dismissed suggestions in some newspapers that the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Mahmud Mohammed, met with Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike during one of the governor’s visits to the office of the CJN earlier this month.

“We wish to state with all emphasis that the CJN at no time had an audience with Governor Wike,” Ahuraka Yusuf Isah, Media Aide To the Chief Justice, said in a statement on Monday. “This includes before, on and after the said date.”

He noted that during the week of the purported first visit by the Governor Wike on 06 July, the CJN was away in Saudi Arabia performing Umrah.

Similarly, on 8 July, the date of the alleged second visit, the CJN was in court observing the interview of shortlisted applicants for the award of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, he said.

The Nigeria leader arrived in the US via the Andrews Airfare Base around 4p.m. EST on Sunday and immediately moved into the Blair House guest house of the US President.

After checking-in, the President met with members of his entourage, which includes five state governors and members of his All Progressives Congress party. He had dinner with former US Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, following which he met Lawal Idris, Professor John Baden, Patrick Berry and Ahmad Abubakar before retiring to bed.

President Buhari earlier met with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden at the Oval Office at the US White House, the National security advisor Susan Rice and Secretary of State John Kerry were also in attendance. He will also have an audience with the US Secretary of Commerce, Penny Pritzker, to discuss how to improve business relations between both countries.

Ibrahim Dasuki, the 18th Sultan of Sokoto, has criticized the invasion of his home in Sokoto as unlawful because it is his property and not the property of his son, former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki.

The property is one of two that were invaded and searched last week by the State Security Service (SSS), the other being in Abuja.

The 94 year-old Dasuki, who was famously dethroned by General Sani Abacha’s military junta in 1996, spoke with the BBC Hausa Service in London on Monday. He emphasized that his home is different from that of the retired colonel.

The older Mr. Dasuki, who is receiving treatment in the United Kingdom, told the BBC that he received news of the standoff between his son and SSS with shock.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari met with US President Barack Obama for the first time on Monday morning at the White House in Washington, DC, during the African leader’s first official visit to the US.

From the Oval Office, President Obama congratulated his counterpart on his “historic” election over his predecessor Goodluck Jonathan and praised his “reputation of integrity.”

President Buhari, Obama said, “has a very clear agenda of defeating Boko Haram and extremists of all sorts… and of rooting out the corruption that has too often held back the economic growth and prosperity of his country.” On both issues, he stated, he looks forward to increasing partnership between the two countries.

President Buhari, for his part, expressed his gratitude for the invitation to the White House and noted that diplomatic pressure from the US and Europe was part of what made the election result possible.

A memo that originated from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari had directed the country’s oil corporation to bar 113 vessels from lifting Nigeria crude oil from 27 designated terminals.

The memo, which was signed by the NNPC’s group managing director, G.O Komolafe, directed affected terminals to prevent the vessels from lifting crude oil within Nigeria’s territorial waters until further notice.

The memo listed 27 terminals from which the vessels are prohibited to lift Nigerian crude. The terminals are Forcados, Bonny, Bonga, Sea Eagle, Qua lboe, Erha, Yoho, Usan, Bonny River Terminal, Escravos, Agbami, Pennington, Escravos LPG FSO, Escravos Gas Terminal, Antan, Okwori, Odudu, Akpo, Brass, Abo, Okono, Oyo, lma, Okoro, Ukpokiti, Tulja, and Ebok.

Professional surfer Mick Fanning fought off a great white shark attack on live TV on Sunday during the finals of the J-Bay Open of the Men’s Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour in South Africa.

Fanning, a three-time world champion, was in the final round of the J-Bay Open in South Africa when the potential killer emerged from the water behind him.

“I had this instinct that something was behind me…Then, the thing came up….I saw the whole thing just thrashing around. I was getting dragged under by my leg rope. I felt like I punched it a couple of times…. My leg rope broke. I started just swimming and swimming. I was screaming,” he said.

Obviously, the surfer was shaken up but he made it out unscathed.

Nigeria’s new Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, on Sunday said under his command, Boko Haram would either beg for peace or face the wrath of highly motivated and combat ready soldiers.

The Borno State-born Major General, who took over command of the nation’s army last week, said he was ready to lead soldiers to the dens and enclaves of the insurgents.

He, therefore, re-christened the operational code of the counter insurgency efforts from “Operation Zaman Lafiya” to “Operation Zaman Lafiya Dole” – which in Hausa means ‘the quest for peace becomes a must’.

Mr. Buratai, who was in neighbouring Yobe State to celebrate the Islamic eid-el-fitri festival with Nigerian troops, moved to Borno on Sunday afternoon. He arrived Maiduguri by road and was received by the Borno State Deputy Governor, Zannah Mustapha, who immediately accompanied the army boss to visit the 103 Battalion of the 7 Division, Maiduguri in Konduga Town where they met the troops and hailed their courage and gallantry.

Emir of Kano and former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi stressed the importance of responsible leadership on Sunday

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, reminded Nigerian leaders at all level of governance that they would be held accountable for their deeds on the day of judgment during an annual traditional ceremony on Sunday.

The Emir spoke tearfully at the Government House in Kano, Kano State, during the Hawan Nasarawa, in which the Emir paid homage to the government while encouraging leaders to act with the fear of God in all they do, calling their responsibility a great burden.

The fundamental rights to personal liberty and privacy of the home of every Nigerian citizen are constitutionally guaranteed. As fundamental rights are not absolute they may be breached in accordance with a procedure permitted by law. Hence, by virtue of section 146 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, the residence of any citizen can be searched with a warrant duly signed by a Judge, Magistrate or Justice of the Peace.

Section 149 thereof imposes a duty on any person residing in any building which is liable to be searched to allow "free and unhindered access to it and afford all reasonable facilities for its search."

Last Thursday, a team of State Security Service (SSS) officials, armed with a search warrant, attempted to execute the warrant on the private residence of Col. Sambo Dasuki Dasuki, in Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory.

Convinced that he did not deserve to have his house searched Col Dasuki refused to allow the SSS officials access to his house for several hours. The search could not be conducted until the armed troops guiding the house were withdrawn by the Army Authorities. In his own narration of his contemptuous action, the former National Security Adviser admitted that :

Next week's visit to Washington by President Muhammadu Buhari is viewed by the U.S. administration as a chance to set the seal on improving ties since he won a March election hailed as Nigeria's first democratic power transition in decades.

U.S. cooperation with Buhari’s predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, had virtually ground to a halt over issues including his refusal to investigate corruption and human rights abuses by the Nigerian military.

"President (Barack Obama) has long seen Nigeria as arguably the most important strategic country in sub-Saharan Africa," U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Tony Blinken told Reuters. "The question is would there be an opportunity to deepen our engagement and that opportunity is now."

The improving ties with Nigeria, Africa's biggest oil producer, come as U.S. relations have cooled with two other traditional Africa powers - Egypt and South Africa.

A civil rights organisation, Vanguards of Nigeria’s Democracy, on Saturday raised the alarm over clandestine moves by President Muhammadu Buhari to “investigate, malign and imprison” former President Goodluck Jonathan on trumped-up charges.

The VND specifically accused the President and his All Progressives Congress-led administration of “unsavoury and patently repugnant action,” which it said, were anti-Niger Delta and against the Ijaw ethnic nationality.

The group believed Jonathan was the target of the controversy surrounding some alleged missing funds from the nation’s treasury during the tenure of the immediate past administration.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, wondered why people would dwell on speculations when nothing concrete had been established against Jonathan.

At 7:30 am Saturday, the broadcaster was off the air in Nnewi, Anambra State, where one of PREMIUM TIMES’ reporters monitored from.

It was the first time the channel’s signal would be off in the last one week. The government’s initial claims of jamming the transmission and seizing Radio Biafra’s equipment were untrue as of Friday night.

The Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Emeka Mba, on Friday said the commission had stopped the transmission of signals of Radio Biafra.

Michael Jordan has already been inducted into the NBA’s Hall Of Fame with the 2009 class but he will be able to add another achievement to his list.

Yesterday, the International Basketball Federation announced that he will be inducted into their Hall Of Fame as well.

MJ the Goat! It is not too surprising that Mike will be inducted into the FIBA Hall Of Fame, it is just somewhat surprising that it took so much time for the federation to consider him. Michael Jordan was not only a successful player in the national league, but he was also a force internationally as well.

The former National Security Adviser, Mr. Sambo Dasuki, yesterday raised the alarm over what he saw as plot by the State Security Service (SSS) to implicate him in alleged security breaches.

#BBB NEWS| Nigerian Broadcast Authorities Arrest Radio Biafra Operators And Seize Transmission Equipment

On Friday, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) disclosed that it had arrested the individuals who operate Radio Biafra. The NBC also blocked the station from transmitting on Nigerian airwaves and captured its transition equipment in Nigeria's South-East territory.

In a statement NBC's Director General (DG) Emeka Mba said that his organization effectively put an end to the radio station's illegal broadcast which has disrupted the peace of South-East Nigeria with obscene messages.

"The commision has also worked with other agencies to remove the transmissions of the illegal station room satellite, and this has put paid to the divisive and disruptive transmissions."

In a press release, DG Mba also acknowledged concerns that "the seditious activities of the illegal "Biafra Radio" transmitting hate messages that are unfortunately designed to create disunity among Nigerians and mislead young people in a deliberate act of subversion."

It looks Kanye West won’t receive a warm welcome from a few people in Toronto. Ahead of his Pan American Games performance on July 26, a petition was created to replace the “On Sight” rapper’s appearance with a Canadian artist.

Honing over 40,000 signatures since its creation this week, the organizers of this plea stated:

“Classic Man” creator Jidenna is a Nigerian-American rapper that is taking over the hip hop game! He recently interviewed with VladTV about his experience in Nigeria and got dragged to the mud! The creative artsy lyricist now responds to backlash for interview about Nigeria!

Jidenna has come under fire for a recent interview on Vlad TV where he commented on being light-skinned in Nigeria. He stated, “The fact that you have African blood in you is gonna make it hard. When you’re light-skinned, you’re a heavier target for being kidnapped because you’re seen as more valuable. We were robbed–our family’s been assaulted. We’ve had a lot of issues.”

In his own defense against his detractors who took his comments as painting Nigeria in a negative light, he penned an open letter on his website reaffirming his doubters.

He writes, “I am, always have been, and always will be proud of my Nigerian heritage. I understand the pain and anger caused by some of the comments I made in a recent interview, and I wanted to address you directly. Contrary to popular belief, this interview was not the first in which I mentioned Nigeria. In fact, I’m frequently bragging about how Nigerians attend the world’s most prestigious institutions, and how we are known to produce world class doctors, entrepreneurs, innovators, lawyers, engineers, professors, athletes and artists.”

Researchers in China have discovered a 125 million years old feathered ‘dragon’ dinosaur by the name of Zhenyuanlong suni.

The mule-sized dinosaur called Zhenyuanlong suni had a long tail and feathered wings, and once roamed a corner of what is now northeastern China.

Birdman is now suing TIDAL for $50 million for streaming FWA, arguing Cash Money has the exclusive rights to all of Lil Wayne’s music.

TMZ has seen the lawsuit, and they report it’s full of shots at Jay Z and Weezy.

The suit claims the FWA exclusive is TIDAL’s “desperate and illegal attempt to save their struggling streaming service.” It also said FWA got “tepid reviews.”

According to bankruptcy documents, 50 Cent owes $28,478,920 to his 20 biggest creditors.

His largest debt is to Florida headphone maker Sleek Audio, who won a $18,428,257 judgement against Fif for stealing their headphone design.

His second biggest creditor is Rick Ross’s baby mama Lavonia Leviston, who just snagged a $5,000,000 judgement against 50 for leaking her sex tape.

Other debts include $568,304 to Reed Smith, his lawyers,137,880 to Bentley Financial Services for a car lease, $64,909.04 to American Express and $5,245.66 to a stylist on Park Avenue. 50 also owes his grandfather $1,700.

According to the Premium Times, President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed journalist Tolu Ogunlesi as his Special Assistant on New Media.

Mr. Ogunlesi has gone through security screening and his appointment will reportedly be announced in the coming days. He is known as one of Nigeria’s most active Twitter users, and was highly critical of the past administration going into the 2015 general elections.

Mr. Ogunlesi will manage the Buhari administration’s social media activity, a role played by Reno Omokiri for the former administration under Goodluck Jonathan.

There has been yet another plot twist in the ongoing feud between Lil’ Wayne and Birdman. Now, Young Thug’s involvement in the matter just got a whole lot deeper.

Reporter Mike Petchenik from Atlanta WSB-TV says there’s an indictment related to the shooting of Weezy’s tour — which took place back in April. In the court documents, authorities claim Birdman and Young Thug conspired to kill Lil’ Wayne.

This order was reportedly carried out by shooting suspect Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, who remains in police custody over the matter.

Winfrey was was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of a firearm by a felon, and criminal gang activity in connection with the tour bus shooting. He formerly acted as Thug’s manager and is known to be a close associate of the rapper.

As more and more information comes to light, those once close to Bill Cosby are seeing signs of guilt. A former actor on The Cosby Show spoke to CNN about his views on the sexual assault allegations towards the comedian.

For the second time in three years, Monique Mosley has decided to hit the off switch on her matrimony to four-time Grammy-winning producer and songwriter Timbaland.

According to Bossip, Mosley petitioned for the divorce on June 22 with some pretty pricey requests to go along with it. Permanent alimony, life insurance, private school funds, vacations and summer camps were among the list of demands Mrs. Mosley has her eye on.

Bossip also reported that she wishes for Timbaland to pay her court fees, claiming that a friend helped her pay for the lawyer to back her end of the divorce settlement.

Claims that President Buhari made anti-Igbo comments during an interview on the BBC Hausa Service are lies, according to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Garba Shehu.

The recent accusations were made on the pirate radio station Radio Biafra, which was supposedly shut down by the Nigerian government two days ago. However, the latest reports say that the radio station continues to broadcast in the southern part of Nigeria.

According to the statement Radio Biafra’s broadcast was “completely false, malicious, and slanderous.”
The statement added that, “the voice being ascribed to President Buhari in the recording repeatedly played back by the pirate radio station is definitely not the President's and the claim that the station got the recording from a BBC interview is totally untrue.”
