Earlier this week, R&B singer Chris Brown came home to a more than surprising house guest. A woman named Amira Kodcia Ayeb, 21, was found in a bathrobe upon Brown’s arrival to his Los Angeles abode, and proceeded to post the picture of his fan and the details on his Instagram account.

On Friday (May 8), Ayeb’s arraignment stated that she’ll face criminal charges of felony burglary, vandalism, and stalking the Associated Press reports.

Carmelo Anthony might not be in the playoffs because the Knicks were just terrible this season, but he is keeping himself very busy at this time of year anyway. Carmelo got himself a role in the sequel of “TMNT2″ and it appears he isn’t the only NBA player in the movie.

Melo was spotted on the set of the movie earlier this week while filming was going on in Brooklyn. No word on what type of character he plays but it seems like a quick role.

Carmelo won’t be the only NBA player in the movie, either. J.J. Redick is apparently going to be in it as well and several of his Clippers teammates, including DeAndre Jordan, Matt Barnes, Austin Rivers, and Spencer Hawes, are going to be in it, too. The movie is scheduled to come out on June 3, 2016.

An Abuja-based media consultant and former newspaper editor, Simon Imobo-Tswam, has sued Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, for libel, mischief and the unauthorized use of his name, phone number and platform for image-laundering.

In a lawsuit filed at a High Court in the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Imobo-Tswam seeks N1 billion from the minister as “general and compensatory damages.” According to the plaintiff, Ms. Alison-Madueke and her media agents illegally used his name, his mobile telephone number and the official letterhead of his group, Network of Progressive Activists (NPA), to launch a media attack against former President Olusegun Obasanjo. In addition, according to the plaintiff, the minister and her hirelings exploited his name and group in defending the minister’s alleged questionable spending of N10 billion to charter jets.

Apart from the Petroleum Minister, other defendants are Michael Mukwuzi, Timothy Ademola, ThisDay newspapers, Tokunbo Adedoja, Vanguard newspapers, Chioma Gabriel, and Anozie Egole.

National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, has responded to the threat of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State to release evidence of Mu’azu’s “underhand dealings” with the All Progressives Congress.

The PDP National Chairman had faulted the calls of some PDP leaders on him and other members of the National Working Committee of the party to resign, following the heavy defeat suffered by the party in the recent general elections, especially its loss in the presidential poll.

Fayose, one of those pushing for the resignation of Mu’azu, had threatened that he would release incriminating evidence of the national chairman’s secret support for the APC, if Mu’azu pushed further his defence.

On his twitter handle on Thursday, Mu’azu, who is said to be outside the country, mocked the controversial governor, wondering if the Ekiti governor’s “evidence” would not be like his “evidence” during the presidential campaign, when Fayose said he was sure that the APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, was dying in a London hospital.

Four Chinese textile merchants have been arrested by the Customs Comptroller General Anti-smuggling Task Force for illegally importing contraband and sub-substandard textile materials running into several billions of Naira. (pictured above) Comptroller-General of Customs, Dikko Inde Abdullahi

Head of the Task Force, Mr. Hassan Shalangwa, told journalists in Kano on Thursday that the seizure was the largest single-seizure made by the Customs in recent times.

According to him, the Customs have identified over 20 warehouses in Kano where such materials were being stocked, adding that the operation was made possible as a result of a tip-off gathered directly by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dikko Inde Abdullahi.

Tottenham and former Arsenal Striker, Emmanuel Oluseyi Adebayor has taken to Facebook to clarify all the rumours circulating about him and his relationship with his siblings and mother.

The 31-year-old striker said he decided to bare all to ensure other African families learn from his experience.

In the 877 word statement, he listed all the good things that he has done or his mother and his siblings and revealed how they kept asking for more money.

His sad story even revealed how he once got to the edge that he needed to consult the Lagos ‘prophet’ TB Joshua. He said he sent his mother to Joshua, but she only spent a few days there, contrary to the plan she would spend a week.

Perhaps the saddest part of the story was Adebayor’s revelation that his family members are doing ‘juju’ against him, to undermine his footballing career.

The Federal Government had on April 23 instituted a suit at the Supreme Court to nullify the proposed amendments to the 1999 Constitution.

President Goodluck Jonathan had withheld his assent to the amendments to some sections of the document sent to him by the National Assembly.

In a seven-page letter to the Senate President, David Mark, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, the president queried the decision of the National Assembly to whittle down some executive powers of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He faulted some amendments which gives executive powers and duties to the legislature and the judiciary.

Mr. Jonathan explained his position on the amendment and why he declined to sign the document into law.

In a statement released by his media team in Abuja, General Buhari said law abiding would be the guiding philosophy of his administration, adding “without leadership by example, the ordinary citizens would become copycats of the lawlessness of their leaders.”

The President-elect explained that the “arrogance of power, lawlessness and disregard for the rights and convenience of fellow citizens would have no place in his government.”

According to him, for leaders to inspire respect, they must obey the laws of country, adding that when leaders treat the country’s laws with contempt, they might send the wrong message to the citizens.

DALLAS (AP) — Former U.S. House Speaker Jim Wright, the longtime Texas Democrat who became the first House speaker in history to be driven out of office in midterm, has died at age 92.

The World War II veteran and author, often praised for his eloquence and oratorical skills, was living in a nursing home when he died early Wednesday morning, according to the Harveson and Cole funeral home in Fort Worth. Funeral arrangements were pending.

Wright represented a Fort Worth-area congressional district for 34 years, beginning with his election in 1954. He was the House's Democratic majority leader for a decade, rising to the speakership in January 1987, to replace Tip O'Neill.

Although three House speakers had resigned before Wright stepped down in 1989, they all served during the 19th century — and none had been under fire for breaking House ethics rules.

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has said he is still working towards buying Arsenal Football Club, despite the fact that his bid to acquire a stake in the club was rebuffed by the owners in 2010.

In an interview with Bloomberg, while on a journey from Addis Ababa to Lagos last Friday, Dangote expressed hope that his new strategy would enable him buy the north London club at a price the owners won’t want to resist.

He said, “I still hope, one day at the right price, that I’ll buy the team. I might buy it, not at a ridiculous price but a price that the owners won’t want to resist. I know my strategy,” Dangote, a known fan of the north London club, said.

Dangote is rated to be worth $15.7bn, and has interests in cement, sugar and flour. He is currently investing $11bn in a 650,000 barrel-a-day oil refinery in Ondo State, and $2.5bn in gas pipelines running from the Niger-Delta area to Lagos.

Just days after defeating Manny Pacquiao in what was hailed as the fight of the century, Floyd Mayweather will go head to head with his ex in the court of law.

According to The New York Daily News, Mayweather’s ex, Josie Harris, is suing the undefeated boxing champion for more than $20 million after Mayweather labeled her a drug addict.

The lawsuit all stems from a sit-down interview Mayweather, 38, had with Katie Couric two weeks before the match with Pacquiao. During the interview, Mayweather said he held back a drugged-up Harris during their 2010 domestic violence incident, which resulted in the boxing champ serving a 90 day prison sentence in 2011.

A man who alleged to have been punched by Chris Brown Monday (May 4) during a pick-up basketball game in Las Vegas has withdrawn his claim.

According to reports, while staying in a suite at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Chris Brown played a game of ball, when words were exchanged and an altercation broke out. The unidentified man alleged he was punched by Brown and before defending himself, was hit again by a member of Brown’s entourage.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call from the victim while at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center after being treated for non-life threatening wounds.

The governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have stated that they met with President-elect Muhammadu Buhari to discuss the precarious state of the Nigerian economy.

The Chairman of the APC Governors forum and governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, who briefed reporters at the end of the meeting that held at the Defence House Abuja, said the country’s economy is in such bad shape that no state has been able to pay salaries of its workers.

“As it stands today, most states of the federation have not been able to pay salaries, even the Federal Government has not been able to pay their April salary and that is worrisome,” he said.

“By May /June, that will be three months and with the huge expectations of the people who voted for us into office, we are hoping that the president-elect will do all that is humanly possible to bring a bail out not only on the states, but the Federal Government as well.”

Las Vegas police reportedly want to question Chris Brown regarding an alleged assault during a basketball game that took place on Monday (May 4).

The victim claims that while at the Palms Casino resort an altercation broke out during the game, and he was punched by the singer. He also alleges that he was hit by another member of Brown’s entourage.

While Breezy has (so far) taken the smart route and remained silent on the matter, his publicist did release a statement to CNN, denying that he was involved.

Just as the fuel scarcity is biting hard in many parts of the country, particularly in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory and Lagos where residents grapple with fuel shortage which hit the country last weekend, a Federal legislator-elect, Mr. Kayode Oladele has attributed the cause of the scarcity to economic sabotage, corruption and insensitivity on the part of the Federal government.

According to Mr. Oladele who was the former chief of staff to the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and member-elect of the House of Representatives representing Egbado (Yewa) North/Imeko-Afon Federal constituency in Ogun State, the Federal Government is owing major oil marketers in Nigeria several Billions of Naira without any intention of paying them before the Jonathan’s administration wind up on May 29th, 2015.

“The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has told the oil marketers point blank that Jonathan’s administration would not pay them. Rather, she told them that government is a continuum and that the indebtedness shall be passed on to the in-coming Buhari administration. Jonathan’s administration is insensitive to the trauma an average Nigerian is currently going through as a result of the fuel scarcity. First the Ministry of Finance told the country last week that N156 Billion had been released to the oil marketers in order to ease the scarcity but our investigation has revealed that this statement was nothing but an outright fabrication. Again, the Jonathan Administration has through the 2015 Appropriation Bill, removed fuel subsidy, a situation that might put the incoming Buhari’s regime on a collision course with Nigerians. It is very important to know which government to hold responsible for the removal of subsidy”, Oladele has said.

Embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Mu'azu, says those rooting for his removal are enemies of President Goodluck Jonathan, and are thereby rubbishing the legacy of the outgoing president.

Following Mr. Jonathan’s defeat in the March presidential election, some people within the party have called for the National Working Committee (NWC), led by Mr. Mu'azu, to be sacked.

In a statement in Abuja on Tuesday by his media aide, Tony Amadi, that top party men and aides of the President who have advocated the dismemberment of the NWC not only risk their political careers but are dragging President Jonathan's image into the scrap heap.

"Mr President is being hailed world-wide for his historic conduct of a free and fair election in Nigeria and conceding power to the incoming President-elect General Muhammadu Buhari, while a coterie of his aides are working to diminish his newly acquired world statesmanship status because they are scared of the consequences of losing federal power,” he said.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A convicted killer escaped from an Ohio prison farm in 1959, then was allowed to slip away from law enforcement in 1975 and disappeared until a ruse to get his fingerprints led to his arrest in Florida this week, investigators said Tuesday.

Former Akron, Ohio, resident Frank Freshwaters, now 79, admitted his true identity when authorities confronted him Monday, according to the U.S. Marshals Service and deputies in Brevard County, Florida.

Marshals in Ohio had sought help from deputies there, and they created a ruse to get him to sign papers so they could check his fingerprints, which matched the decades-old arrest, said Major Tod Goodyear.

"We couldn't go with a picture and see if it's that guy," Goodyear said. "You look different than you do 50 years ago."

Nicki Minaj might be your new favorite barber soon. The Queens raptress recently scored a role in the forthcoming film, Barbershop 3. Alongside Cedric the Entertainer, Ice Cube, she will play the new feisty barber on staff, Draya.

Her character will reportedly be an employee of Regina Hall’s character, according to Entertainment Weekly.

It looks like Manny Pacquiao may have lost more than just a fight. Now, the Filipino fighter and his team could be facing perjury charges for falsely filling out a pre-fight medical questionnaire.

The boxer’s camp reportedly checked the “no” box when asked if he had a shoulder injury. According to local sources, they have sparked an investigation by Nevada authorities, states the New York Daily News.

“Disclosure is a big thing for us, and honesty,” Cisco Aguilar, the Nevada Athletic Commission chairman said. “The commission at some point will have to discuss (Pacquiao’s medical questionnaire). I’ve got to run through the process with the (Nevada) Attorney General (Adam Laxalt). But they do sign that document under the penalty of perjury.”

But here’s the catch: Pacquiao and his promoter, Top Rank, released a statement on Monday (May 4) that said his team let the U.S. Anti Doping Agency know about Pacquiao’s shoulder injury before the May 2 fight. The statement also mentioned that the USADA “confirmed in writing that the proposed treatments, if used, were completely allowed.”

A Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed May 21, 2015 to rule on an application filed in objection to the suit seeking to restrain Multichoice Nigeria Limited from increasing subscription fees on the Digital Satellite television being operated by it.

Two Lagos-based legal practitioners, Osasuyi Adebayo and Oluyinka Oyeniji, had filed the class action on behalf of themselves and all other DStv subscribers across the country.

The plaintiffs were seeking an order of the court restraining MultiChoice from implementing the 20 per cent increment on DStv subscription rate which began on April 1, 2015.

They also want the court to compel the National Broadcasting Commission to regulate the activities of MultiChoice so as to prevent what they described as arbitrary increment in subscription rates.

They specifically want an implementation of the pay-per-view scheme in Nigeria, whereby subscribers would only pay for programmes they watched, as is being done in other parts of the world where MultiChoice operates.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday met separately with two leading pastors in the country based in Ogun State.

Jonathan met with the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye; and the Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide a.k.a Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo.

The headquarters of Winners Chapel is located in Ota, Ogun State while the Redemption Camp of the RCCG is situated at Mowe along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The President arrived the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos in the afternoon and was conveyed to the venues of the separate meetings in a helicopter.

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday exonerated itself from the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28 presidential election, saying the president failed because he did not carry the party along in his campaign.

Olisa Metuh, the PDP’s national publicity secretary, made the assertion while addressing reporters at the party secretariat in Abuja on Monday. He accused the president and his associates of not only failing to carry the party leadership along but also for ignoring the advice offered by party leaders.

Mr. Metuh specifically blamed the hate campaign by members of the Presidential Campaign Committee for producing the electoral failure of many party candidates.

The publicity secretary disclosed that the PDP spent more than N4 billion to sponsor its candidates in the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and state legislative elections.

Emirates, a global connector of people and places, and South African Tourism, the marketing agency for South Africa, today signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) that will open the way for the development of joint marketing initiatives aimed at growing the number of visitors from the Middle East to South Africa.

The MoA was signed by Thulani Nzima, South African Tourism Chief Executive Officer, and Orhan Abbas, Emirates Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations for Latin America, Southern and Central Africa; on the side lines of the Arabian Travel Market 2015, currently being held in Dubai. The South African Minister of Tourism, His Honourable Mr Derek Hanekom, who is attending the travel market was also present at the signing ceremony.

The Agreement extends until 31 May 2016, and provides a framework under which Emirates and South African Tourism will work together and explore various marketing initiatives aimed at promoting South Africa in various regions in the Middle East which will be identified by the two parties.

My attention has been drawn to a communiqué purportedly issued by some PDP leaders in the Southwest calling on me, the National Secretary Prof. Adewale Oladipo and the National Auditor, Alhaji Adewole Adeyanju to resign from the National Working Committee.

According to the communiqué, the resignation was to pave way for the dissolution of the National Working Committee as a fall out of the 2015 general elections.

However, a very careful examination of the inherent breaches in the procedures adopted in the convening of the meeting as well as the content and tone of its resolution shows an orchestration by a few individuals bent on sowing a seed of discord within the PDP fold in the zone.

This is evident in the fact that the said communiqué in no way reflected the views of majority of those who attended the meeting, neither did it tally with the opinion of the generality of our party members in the region.
