President Barack Obama surprised a pair of newlyweds in San Diego, Calif. this past weekend when he mistakingly crashed their wedding, and mingled with their guests.

Brian and Stephanie Tobe were completing their final touches before heading outside at The Lodge at Torrey Pines to say their vows on Sunday (Oct. 11). Coincidentally, the leader of the free world was also at the location engaging in a round of golf.

According to the duo’s photographers, Erin and Jeff Youngrens, the Tobes were elated to learn that the leader of the free world was at the estate in which their nuptials was taking place.

“Brian and Stephanie were SO EXCITED that he was there,” they wrote on their blog. “We laughed and joked all morning and tried to get a peek of him through the curtains, feeling honored just to be at the same location.”

Four Ethiopian bloggers were acquitted of terrorism charges this morning after spending 539 days in prison.

In April 2014 six bloggers of the Zone 9 website were arrested by Ethiopian authorities with three other journalists on allegations of terrorism under the Anti-Terror Proclamation. The Ethiopian government claimed the group planned attacks, incited violence, and attended a training session on digital security.

Two of the bloggers were released in July of this year after charges against them were dropped. Another blogger, Soleyana Gebremichael, who lives in exile was also acquitted of all charges from the Ethiopian government.

One journalist, Tesfalem Waldyes, came back to Addis Ababa to hear the court verdict. Waldyes told Agence France-Presse (AFP) that “This whole thing [court case alleging terrorism] is absurd.”

Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has written Senate President Bukola Saraki, asking him not to take any action on the White Paper issued by Governor Nyesom Wike against him and his administration and the petition sent to the Senate by Livingstone Wechie accusing him of corruption.

Amaechi, who is a ministerial nominee from Rivers State have been having a running battle with the State government and its lawmakers, who are opposed to his nomination and appointment by President Muhamadu Buhari.

The state and the lawmakers want Amaechi to be dropped, accusing him of having made the state to lose huge revenue when he was governor for eight years. The opposition against him informed the postponement of his screening twice last week when 18 other nominees were cleared by the upper legislative chamber.

But Amaechi through his lawyer, Edward E. Pepple of Edward and Williams and Co, in the letter made available to Saturday Vanguard,  yesterday, said the entirety of the so-called petition and white paper ran foul of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and should not be acted upon pending the hearing and determination of the suits on the matters.

Diddy is a man on a mission, and his next move is just another goal checked off of his list. The media mogul was named producer of a forthcoming sitcom titled The Hustle, set to premiere on ABC.

The program will center on the come-up of his former assistant, Sarah Snedeker. The scripted-series will follow the rise of an ambitious girl who snags a job as an assistant to a self-made and street smart business maven, The Hollywood Reporter states.

The “Workin” rapper also took to his Instagram account to celebrate the occasion, writing: “I’m excited for this venture!”

#BBB NEWS| Nigeria Army Court-Martial Sentences Brigadier-General Ransome-Kuti To Six Months In Jail

Brigadier General Enitan Ransome-Kuti, the son of the late human rights activist, Beko Ransome Kuti, has been sentenced to six months in prison for offenses committed during the war against Boko Haram.

He will be dismissed from the Army if the sentence pronounced on him by a military court in Abuja on Thursday is confirmed by the Nigerian Army.

Brigadier General Kuti has been at the center of controversy relating to his conduct as an officer. He was accused of failing to perform his military duties during the fight against Boko Haram which may have resulted in the militants’ capture of Baga, the center of a multinational force.

Included in the charges against him is that Brigadier General Kuti failed to account for the weapons and ammunitions under his supervision, rendering the army useless in the fight against Boko Haram.

A host of NBA stars mobilized on Twitter to send well wishes to Lamar Odom. The two-time champion and former player for the Lakers, Clippers, Mavericks and Heat was found unconscious in Nevada on Tuesday (Oct. 14).

While reports state that Odom is “fighting for his life,” his former teammates and fellow players have taken to social media with thoughts and prayers. From LeBron James, to Dwyane Wade, to Allen Iverson, to Paul Pierce several members of the league expressed hopefulness for Odom to pull through.

According to ESPN, former lakers teammate Kobe Bryant left a preseason game to join Odom at his bedside at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, along with the team’s general manager, Mitch Kupchak. Lakers coach Byron Scott also commented on the unfortunate news.

“Obviously, our hearts and our thoughts and our prayers are with Lamar and his family,” Scott said. “It’s obviously something that you don’t want to hear before the game because I think the people that knew about it, we were all thinking about it. … I obviously feel for him and hope that he’ll be OK.”

#BBB NEWS| Boko Haram: President Obama Sends US Troops, Drones To Cameroon [PHOTO]

The United States is sending 300 US troops, along with surveillance drones, to Cameroon to bolster a West African effort to counter the Nigerian militant Islamist group Boko Haram, US officials said on Wednesday. (pictured above) US Marines in Nigeria

In a notification to Congress, President Barack Obama said an advance force of about 90 military personnel began deploying on Monday to Cameroon, with the consent of the Yaounde government.

The troops will “conduct airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations in the region,” Obama said. “These forces are equipped with weapons for the purpose of providing their own force protection and security, and they will remain in Cameroon until their support is no longer needed.”

US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the troops would provide intelligence to a multi-national task force being set up to fight Boko Haram and composed of troops from Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, Chad and Benin.

It was a good night for the world of hip-hop (as far as pre-recorded shows go). During the 2015 BET Hip Hop Awards, Future opened up the show with a bang, cyphers were full of dope lyrics for days, and of course Snoop Dogg made us laugh.

Overall, all of the winners were well-deserved. DJ Mustard was recognized as DJ of the Year as well as Producer of the Year, while Big Sean won People’s Champ for “Blessings,” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” single shined.

The election petition tribunal sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, has upheld the election of Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, as the duly elected Senator representing Kwara Central constituency.

The judgment in favor of Saraki was delivered today even as the screening of ministerial nominees was ongoing at the upper chamber.

In late August, Janet kicked off her world tour in Vancouver proving her absence from the stage did not diminish her skills.

The Nigerian military today reaffirmed determination to rescue hundreds of captives, including more than 200 Chibok schoolgirls, being held by insurgent fighters belonging to Islamist group, Boko Haram.

The acting Director of Defense Information, Colonel Rabe Abubakar,  expressed this determination in a statement in response to recent media reports on the fate of the Chibok schoolgirls and other captives.

"The Nigerian military and other security agencies are working round the clock to secure the release of not only the Chibok girls but other innocent citizens who are held hostage by the terrorists," the military spokesman said.

He added, "The military, being a component of the society, is equally worried and is doing everything possible to address the current security challenges. The search for abducted Chibok school girls and the rescue of other Nigerians in hostage has never relapsed as could be attested to in recent times where hundreds of women and children were rescued by the military through its coordinated operations.

In October 2010, a traditional ruler and a college provost were abducted in Ekiti state by a gang of kidnappers. While the bandits were taking the victims to a hideout in Delta state, a fatal accident occurred at Kabba in Kogi State.

Both victims were killed while the kidnappers were seriously injured. The criminal elements were promptly arrested by the police and charged to court by the Kogi state ministry of justice. Although the trial court ordered that the kidnap suspects be remanded in prison custody, they escaped last year during a violent attack on the Lokoja prison by unknown gunmen.

Shortly after that, the wife of the Speaker of Osun state was abducted in Osogbo. She was later found by a vigilante group in Ogun state. In Lagos, the chairperson of Ejigbo local government was abducted.

Undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. just lost a massive investment. A few of the athlete’s luxury vehicles were reportedly destroyed in a trailer fire, TMZ states.

The cars were being transported to another location from Las Vegas to Miami when the four wheeled-items went up in smoke just outside of Phoenix.

Arizona State Troopers are still investigating the exact cause of the blaze. No injuries were reported.

The shipping company was Fusion Luxury Motors based in California. The cars that were on board included a Bentley, customized jeep, and 2 Rolls Royce cars.

Throngs of people in search of justice gathered in Washington, DC on Saturday (Oct. 10) to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the historic Million Man March and usher in a new era of the ongoing fight for equality.

Spearheaded by Minister Louis Farrakhan, the aptly named “Justice Or Else” march drew thousands to the National Mall for a series of speeches pertaining to police brutality, reparations, politics and other issues affecting Americans of color.

Also in attendance for the occasion was a few notable names in hip-hop and black culture.

Among the Black Lives Matter activists were also the likes of J. Cole, Snoop Dogg, Russell Simmons Puff Daddy, Common and few other notable artists. Puff Daddy sat alongside Jeezy in the front row during Minister Farrakhan’s speech.

Early today, two female suicide bombers suspected to be members of the terror group  killed nine people in Kangeleri, near the town of Mora in Cameroon’s Far North region early on Sunday, local government and military sources said.

The group has proclaimed an Islamic emirate in neighbouring northeastern Nigeria, enforcing a brutal interpretation of Islamic law, and also pushed into neighbouring countries.

On Saturday, five suicide bombers had killed over 30 people  in a part of Chad that borders Nigeria.
