Kanye West doesn’t speak about his mother too much, so it came as a surprise the “All Day” emcee opened up about his late mother even going as far as blaming himself for her death.

“If I had never moved to L.A. she’d be alive,” the 38 year old said during an interview.

Industry legends filled up the guest list at the 28th Rhythm & Soul Music Awards by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). Top songwriters and publishers of R&B, hip hop, rap and gospel music received honors at the Beverly Hills ceremony for their 2014 contributions (June 25).

Timbaland and Jay Z tied for the top honor of Songwriter of the Year as well as won Top R&B/Hip Hop Song with Beyoncé for “Drunk In Love.” “Show Me” earned writers Kid Ink and Jeremih the award for Top Rap Song and Bart Millard took home Top Gospel Song for “I Can Only Imagine.”

Additionally, Sony/ATV Tunes LLC earned the Publisher of the Year Award for tracks by Drake, Tinashe, T.I., John Legend, Lil Wayne, Iggy Azalea, Usher, Pharrell Williams, Erica Campbell, Sevyn Streeter, Kid Ink, Future, Chris Brown, Lorde, Michelle Williams, Sam Smith, Young Money and Jhené Aiko.

In an attempt to increase its transparency, the Kaduna State government has recently entered into a partnership with the civic technology and transparency advocacy group BudgIT.

Their goal is to institute a digital platform that features an open budgeting system. This platform will let citizens monitor the State's records, budgets, policies, and funds through their mobile devices.

Today, BudgIT that "the project with Kaduna State Government is to build a STANDARD for State budgets and engagement with the public."

Their second tweet said "the Project comes at NO cost of public treasury. It will be fully funded by grants and our own resources."

Alinur Mohamed, a local elder, said: “the fighting was the heaviest ever around this area. Al-Shabaab took full control of the base and killed many soldiers,” when speaking to newspaper The Guardian.

Another elder, Ahmed Bulle, said: “Al-Shabaab took control of the area completely – the death toll could be more than 50. There are many dead bodies, most of them in military uniforms.”

President Muhammadu Buhari is to visit the United States on July 20 and will be received at the White House by President Barack Obama, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said today.

The Nigerian leader’s visit will come just before Mr. Obama leaves for Africa. He is scheduled to visit Kenya and Ethiopia.

The announcement said Buhari's visit "will underscore the United States' longstanding friendship with Nigeria, our commitment to strengthening and expanding our partnership with Nigeria’s new government, and our support for the Nigerian people following their historic democratic elections and peaceful transfer of power."

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the fracas today by disgruntled APC members in the House of Representatives, as a show of shame and national embarrassment, adding that the APC lawmakers ostensibly acted on instructions from the Presidency.

In a statement by National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, the Party said the ugly development brings President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress’ commitment to democracy, unity, and the stability of the country to question.

The PDP said the disgraceful act is a direct consequence of President Buhari’s lack of democratic credentials to rein in his party to respect the independence and sanctity of the legislative arm of government, which it described as “the very citadel of democracy, as enshrined in the nation’s constitution.”

“The barbaric attempt to physically assault a duly elected Speaker, seize the mace, the authority of the House, is a direct attack on the Nigerian parliament which embodies the supremacy of the people and our freedom as a democratic nation” the PDP said.

#BBB NEWS| Ghanaian Football Star Asamoah Gyan Charged For Rape And Sodomy

The captain of the national Ghanaian football team, Asamoah Gyan, has recently been charged by police for the rape and sodomy of Sarah Kwablah, a 22 year old student at the University of Ghana.

Kwablah’s lawyer, Maurice Ampaw, said the complaint was made two days ago at the Victim Support Unit (DOOVSU) of the Ministry Police Station in Accra.

Gyan has admitted to having sex with Sarah Kwablah. However, he claims that the sex was entirely consensual.

Kwablah, is also accusing Gyan of fathering her pregnancy. Hospital scans have shown that she is indeed pregnant but Gyan claims that the child is not his. He has demanded a paternity test to determine the veracity of her claims. Reports say he is prepared to take responsibility of the child if it is proven that he is the father.

Singer, Seyi Shay has signed a global recording contract with notable record label Island Universal Records.

The signing took place in London at the Universal Offices in South Kensington on Tuesday and Shay celebrated the event with her fans and followers on instagram.

Sources told TheCable that this deal is worth six figures in pounds sterling. She has already started laughing her way to the bank as the MTV award nominee for best female has already been paid an advance on the record deal.

The deal is said to encompass both production and marketing side which means her fans could be looking forward to some exciting collaborations with major international artistes on the label
Also, Shay would still own all the rights to her music in Africa and Island Universal will help the fast rising artiste effectively monetize her music throughout the rest of Europe and United States.

Appearing in a Boston courtroom moments ago, convicted Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev issued an apology to the victims, the survivors and their families of the 2013 attack, as well as took responsibility.

3 people died in the attack, with an additional 264 others wounded, and Tsarnaev was issued the death penalty on May 15.

Rick Ross got arrested in Georgia yet again. Early Wednesday morning (June 24), The MMG head honcho and his bodyguard were reportedly taken into custody by the Metro Atlanta Fugitive Task Force for charges including kidnapping, aggravated assault and aggravated battery.

“According to sources, Ross was having work done on the property he bought in Fayette County,” WSBTV said. “Ross allegedly got into a fight with one of the workers and pistol-whipped him.”

Diddy recently released a statement on the assault charges against him that occurred on the UCLA campus where his son, Justin, plays football.

Less than a day after being arrested for allegedly assaulting a UCLA football coach with a kettlebell, Sean “Diddy” Combs is breaking his silence.

“The various accounts of the events and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate. What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son,” Combs’ rep said in a statement to E! News.

“We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed.”

Combs was booked yesterday evening on a felony charge at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Reception Center and his bail was set at $160,000, according to his booking sheet.

The fact that Donald Trump is no competition in the upcoming US presidential race makes his bombastic tirade against Mexicans and Latin America laughable.

Yet it doesn’t change anything about what he represents: a billionaire tycoon and public American figure who only further cemented the stigma attached to mexicans and other immigrants who come into the country in hopes of building a better life for their offsprings.

While his hateful speech prompted backlash from the Latino community, its prominent celebs have been fairly mum on the topic. That is, except for Maná lead singer and composer Fher Olvera, who vilified Trump’s words and made clear his political discourse was unacceptable.

Diddy was arrested Monday after allegedly attacking UCLA football strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi at the university athletic complex.

Diddy was initially held on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon because witnesses say he swung a kettlebell at Alosi — but later that night, officials tacked on more charges:

The former President, who was defeated in the nation’s presidential election held on March 28, left Nigerian shores shortly afterwards to spend some time in London, United Kingdom.

He then quietly left London to enjoy some vacation time in the United States. In previous visits to the United States as Nigeria’s leader, he was known for luxury living, in one instance in New York taking the $10,000 per night presidential suite of the Pierre Hotel near Central Park for several days.

It is not known how long the former President intends to be away, or what other places he may be planning to enjoy his time.

President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday in Abuja assured State Governors that the days of impunity, lack of accountability, and fiscal recklessness in the management of national resources are over in Nigeria.

Speaking at a meeting with the Governors in the Presidential Villa, President Buhari also vowed that funds stolen by government officials who abused their offices in the recent past will be recovered and systemic leakages stopped.

"There are financial and administrative instructions in every government parastatal and agency. But all these were thrown to the dogs in the past. Honestly, our problems are great, but we will do our best to surmount them.

"The next three months may be hard, but billions of dollars can be recovered, and we will do our best, " the President told the governors.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was reportedly arrested on assault with a deadly weapon charges Monday afternoon (June 22) after a fight with UCLA Assistant Football Coach, Sal Alosi.

Reports indicate Diddy attempted to speak with Alosi, a former New York Jets strength coach, because he was ‘riding’ Diddy’s son Justin and supposedly told him not to return until the end of the summer.

Sources say Diddy, 45, thinks Alosi has issues with Justin who plays for the team, and went into the coach’s office insisting to have a word. Alosi, feeling uneasy, threatened to call security, to which Diddy challenged Alosi and said “Fine! I’ll call police” It was then Alosi allegedly snapped.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State on Monday lambasted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for choosing Governor Olusegun Mimiko as the Chairman Governor's Forum.

A statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the Party, Omo'ba Abayomi Adesanya, and obtained by a SaharaReporters correspondent in Akure, described the emergence of Mimiko as a mark of failure for the PDP.

Adesanya said such emergence of an "underperformed" Governor ‎signals the end of the road for the umbrella Party, which had turned out to be a formidable opposition Party since it lost the control of power in the last general election.

He wondered ‎how a Party that claimed to regained power from the ruling APC would chose such a "corrupt, mentally lazy and undemocratic" Governor like Mimiko to head its Governor's Forum.

President Muhammadu Buhari has painted a gloomy picture of the Nigeria his new government is battling to reshape, saying he met an almost empty treasury and huge debts left behind by his predecessor.

At a meeting with state house reporters Monday, the first since his inauguration three weeks ago, the president said it was embarrassing that the situation has degenerated to where federal and state government cannot pay their workers.

He decried the huge debts, empty treasury and the declining economy left by the previous administration, saying Nigeria should be in a better position than it is now.

Mr. Buhari also said the tradition of expecting an incoming government to turn in its report card within the first 100 days in office, puts enormous pressure on the present government given the current state of things.

Diego Maradona announced that he will be contesting for the FIFA presidency. His run was announced on Monday by a presenter Uruguayan national television.

"'I am candidate' are the words that Diego Maradona used when I asked him about the candidacy for the FIFA presidency," journalist Victor Hugo Morales said on Twitter.

Maradona was a strong critic of FIFA under current President Sepp Blatter, who announced last month that he would step down.

Nicki Minaj shared some behind the scenes photos of “Barbershop 3″ for her fans on the Gram. It looked like the cast, which included Ice Cube, Regina Hall, Eve, Common, Cedric The Entertainer and more, were having a blast.

In the third episode of Power season two, “Like We’re Any Other Couple,” Ghost and Angela pack their bags and head to Miami where they enjoy the sun, surf, and sand on their mini vacay.

While the two lovebirds play pretend and imagine a life together (sans Tasha), Ghost must do double duty. He has to act as Stern’s errand boy and convince a Miami club owner to join forces with his empire, a folly but necessary move in order stay alive. He must also track down and kill Pink Sneakers.

Back in New York, Tommy and Kanon try to get the distribution back in order only to turn their one-time shaky ground with Rolla’s crew into a sh*t storm.

One of the most respected Nigerian musicians from the Northern Hausa speaking region of Nigeria Adamu Wayya, better known as Dan Maraya Jos, died according to his friend and close associate, Ladan Salihu. He was 69 years old.

“One of Nigeria’s foremost Hausa musicians, poet, philosopher and philanthropist, Dr Adamu Dan Maraya Jos has answered Allah’s call about an hour ago,” Mr. Salihu posted on his Facebook page at about 4pm on Saturday.

Ladan Salihu is the Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).

It was also revealed that that Dan Maraya Jos passed away in Jos after a brief illness. Mr. Salihu said on “When I visited him two weeks ago, he spoke passionately about the Unity of the North and of one Nigeria.”

President Muhammadu Buhari went over to his farm in Daura in Katsina State over the weekened.

The President visited his farm, showing his son, Yususf, some documents relating to his farm and taking out time to play around with some of his cows.
