The National Assembly of Nigeria is being threatened with a lawsuit for its refusal to disclose a budget to the public, an action prohibited by the Freedom of Information Act. (pictured above) The National Assembly of Nigeria Photo Credit: opinionnigeria

The two organizations at the helm of this lawsuit are BudgIT and the Public and Private Development Centre (PPDC). They said that they made a request for the National Assembly budget between 2011 and 2014. They also stated that they requested annual performance reports for 2011, 2012, and 2013.

The National Assembly has had a yearly budget of N150 billion since 2011. Since 1999, the National Assembly has been provided with N1.26 trillion, a sum which is used in ways unknown to the Nigerian public.

#BBB NEWS| US Invests $35 Million In Fight Against Boko Haram

The United States will provide $35 million in military and defense support services to France as part of America’s investment in the war against Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram. (pictured above) President Goodluck Jonathan German foreign affairs minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his French counterpart, Laurent Fabius during a visit to the State House in Abuja on Monday Photo Credit: State House Photo

The American support, contained in a press statement issued by the White House late on Wednesday, is to provide assistance to France which has been actively supporting Nigeria’s French speaking neighbors—Niger and Chad—in their fight against Boko Haram insurgents as well as Mali, which is battling Islamist extremism.

The three French-speaking have been in the forefront of the war against the dreaded Islamist terrorist group.

Curiously, America’s new support did not mention Nigeria, the country worst hit by Boko Haram’s terrorist assaults. The conspicuous omission of Nigeria has raised questions in diplomatic circles whether the apparent snub represented a continuing fallout from strained relations between the Goodluck Jonathan administration and President Barack Obama over the former’s original questionable response to the Boko Haram menace.

#BBB NEWS| Billboard’s ‘Money-Makers’ List Include Jay Z, Eminem And Drake! Check Out The Full List

Billboard magazine just released their Money-Makers List: Music’s Top Earners of 2014. It’s different than the more famous Forbes list in that Billboard only takes into account four revenue sources: sales, streaming, publishing and touring.

Which is why Dr. Dre — and his Beats Audio sale — can top Forbes’ list, but he doesn’t even make Billboard’s.

Overall, the list is another example that 2014 was a down year for Hip Hop. Only Jay Z (ninth place) Eminem (20th) and Drake (21st) made the top 40. (Hov’s wife Beyonce came in a few spots behind him at 12th.)

#BBB NEWS| Court Fines Igbinedion N3m For N25bn Scam

In a scandalous replay of the episode, a few years back, when Justice Abdullahi Kafarati, then of the Federal High Court Enugu,  offered an option of N3.5million fine to Lucky Igbinedion, former governor of Edo State for corruption offences, his younger brother, Michael Igbinedion who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for siphoning N25billion from the Edo state treasury during the period his elder brother held the reins as chief executive, today received a fine of N3million from Justice J. Liman of the Federal High Court, Benin.

The anti-climactic denouement to a trial that was marked by a series of drama and unconscionable adjournments became ominous Wednesday April 29, 2015 when the trial judge failed to sentence the accused persons having found them guilty on some of the charges in the 81-count information preferred against them by the EFCC. Instead, he fixed the sentencing for the next day, April 30, 2015 but it was clear the direction the pendulum was going to swing, as the two accused persons, Charles Eboigbodin, personal assistant to Lucky Igbinedion and Michael Igbinedion, though allegedly committed the same offence of money laundering, were  however convicted on different counts.

#BBB NEWS| Missing $20bn: Okonjo-Iweala Disowns Pricewaterhousecoopers

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has distanced herself from the audit firm, PriceWatersHouseCoopers, saying she should not be held responsible for its hiring to probe Nigeria’s alleged missing oil money, days after a widely-discredited report by PwC was released.

As finance minister and coordinator of the economy, Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala played a leading role in 2014 when PwC as hired, as the government tried to counter an allegation that $20 billion oil money had been stolen.

Former Central Bank governor, Lamido Sanusi, who made the claim, accused the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC of diverting the money.

After efforts by the government and the Senate to reconcile the sum yielded no tangible results, Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala recommended an independent forensic audit. She later announced the hiring of PriceWaterHouseCoopers.

#BBB NEWS| I Will Handover A Nigeria Completely Free Of Terrorist Strongholds, President Jonathan Assures

#BBB NEWS| APC Accuses Jonathan’s Govt Of Hindering Smooth Transition Of Power

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the JonathanAdministration of plotting to hinder a smooth handover of power on May29th, as it is becoming apparent that the Administration will not fully cooperate with the incoming government, despite its public posturing in that regard.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party also described as an act of hostility and a patently-misplaced aggression the unnecessary vituperation against the incoming Buhari Administration by the Jonathan government, ostensibly because of the terms of reference of the Buhari Transition Committee but in reality part of an orchestrated plot to sabotage the transition.

It rejected the continued blackmail by the Jonathan Administration as a result of President Jonathan’s concession of defeat, wondering whether the concession, gracious as it was, has now become a shield for all wrong doings.

#BBB NEWS| Presidential Election 2015: Jonathan Questions Buhari’s Victory | TheCable

President Goodluck Jonathan has, for the first time, questioned the results of the March 28 presidential election, maintaining that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is still the dominant party in Nigeria. Jonathan had congratulated Muhammadu Buhari, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), before the final result was announced but has now said he only did it for the unity of Nigeria. He said the PDP could not have recorded the low scores recorded for him in some areas, and attributed the loss in Benue and Kogi to infighting. The president was speaking on Thursday at the submission of the report of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation (PPCO) at the new banquet hall of the presidential villa. Jonathan said: “PDP is still the dominant party. If you look at the result, the difference is just over two million votes. And if you look at the areas where it is perceived that PDP scored so low, PDP couldn’t have gotten those kinds of scores.” He said now that the elections are over, “I put the country first”. That Nigeria is at peace is worth celebrating, Jonathan said, appearing to confirm reports that some western countries had put ships on standby to evacuate their citizens in preparation for a post-election crisis in Nigeria. He said: “The countries that brought ships, everything around us, waiting to evacuate their citizens are happy because there was nobody to evacuate.

She, however, did not own to the crime, initially claiming her husband stabbed himself. Following a distress call from the couple’s 1300 block of Healy Court home early Thursday, the police said they found Adeyinka in a pool of blood and a knife pierced into his neck.

Adeyinka died some hours after then.

Temitope told investigators her husband had been cheating on her with various women and had ordered her back to Nigeria and back multiple times to enable him time to frolic.

Temitope, with who Adeyinka had two children, explained they had been married for more than 10 years, during which time she told investigators that he’d physically abused her, even while pregnant with their children.
