The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi, on Thursday urged President Muhammadu Buhari to plug revenue leakages in the country if he must make headway in its anti-corruption crusade.

Sanusi, who maintained that the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation had been a drain pipe to the Nigerian economy for a long time, spoke in Lagos at ‘the Federal Government Budget Symposium’ organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.

The emir was the royal father of the day at the event titled “Come Nigeria – The nation’s fiscal challenges and way forward for the new administration.’

He said, “No matter how good your budget is, if you cannot do simple things like track your oil revenue, you cannot meet the basic government’s obligations to the citizens”

What happened to King was an extreme example of what N.W.A. had been rapping about; the kind of police brutality that, according to the movie, they had experienced all their lives. They spoke up about it and established a platform for others to do the same, at some risk and with great rewards for those who survived.

After neglecting the feature for years, Twitter began rolling out improvements to direct messages when Kevin Weil took over the product organization last fall. The company restored the ability to send links, added group and photo messaging, and began letting you share tweets natively inside the messages.

Chadian President, Idriss Deby, has announced to the media that Boko Haram has a new leader named Mahmat Daoud, who is willing to negotiate with Nigeria.

President Deby was addressing reporters in N’Djamena on the 55th anniversary celebration of Chad’s independence from France when he declared that Boko Haram has been “decapitated.” He said that the terrorist group has been scattered in small groups across northeastern Nigeria.

“There is someone apparently called Mahamat Daoud who is said to have replaced Abubakar Shekau and he wants to negotiate with the Nigerian government,” Deby said at the ceremony.

Abubakar Shekau took over as the group's leader after the its founder, Muhammad Yusuf, died while in Nigerian police custody in July 2009.

President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja praised Nigerian youth on Wednesday for their contributions to the outcome of the 2015 elections as “a model for democratic governance” in Africa.

The Nigerian leader, who was speaking on the occasion of the 2015 International Youth Day, also expressed concern that economic growth in Nigeria has yet to translate into commensurate and improved social outcomes, “especially for our 60 million young people who make up the majority of the population.”

In that regard, he disclosed that his government would pay special attention to the growth of small and medium scale enterprises, as well as explore the use of intervention funds to encourage domestic industrialization and manufacturing.

President Buhari noted that although educational attainment by the youth has increased significantly in the last decade, the relevance of curricula, quality of education, and skills required to meet the demands of the job market remained a national challenge.

The heist was earned through a phony crude oil contracts with the victim, wiring the said amount into the account of Total Intership Nigeria Limited ostensibly for the supply of crude oil. The bubble burst after the victim was left clutching the air, in an exasperating wait that ended with a petition to the EFCC.

One Joe Onwudimowei, an accomplice who operates the account of Total Intership Nigeria Limited with Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) where the proceeds of the said fake contract was deposited, was arrested on 18th June, 2015 and upon interrogation, fingered Idowu Olanrewaju and one Otunba Yemi Osho as the people he handed over all monies that passed through the account.

Gunmen kidnapped three staff members of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) who were on an inspection tour of Kalamatoru community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on Saturday.

Sources at the State Security Service (SSS) in Bayelsa State say the captors have made contact with the families and are demanding a ransom of N400 million.

The source noted that the DPR has asked the SSS to stay back in the negotiations as they are actively pursuing it.

President Muhammadu Buhari said Tuesday in Abuja that the prosecution of persons who have stolen national resources will begin in a matter of weeks.

Abdulsalami Abubakar in the Presidential Villa, President Buhari declared that his administration was irrevocably committed to doing all within its powers to break the vicious cycle of corruption, unemployment and insecurity in Nigeria.

"Nigeria has to break this vicious cycle before we can make progress," the President said, adding that his administration was diligently getting  facts and figures  pertaining to the nation's stolen funds, before proceeding to the prosecution of identified culprits.

President Buhari told General Abdulsalami and members of his committee that the Federal Government, under his leadership, will not only ask for the return of  stolen funds that have been stashed in foreign banks, but will also ensure that those who stole the funds are put on trial in Nigeria.

In an effort to prove guilt on the part of Empire co-creator Lee Daniels, Gaye referenced a previous comment made by Daniels in which he likens the Fox hit to Dynasty.

President Muhammadu Buhari has called for an explanation from the Ministry of Finance on the foreign loans obtained for rail projects but diverted to other purposes.

Speaking at the end of a presentation on the Ministry of Transport by the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Bashar at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, President Buhari said that  it was disappointing to find that foreign loans obtained in line with signed agreements were moved from one project to another.

“I hope that due process was followed before such diversions were carried out.  Taking money from one project to another has to be done properly,” the President warned.

President Buhari was reacting to the specific instance of the diversion of a substantial part of the loan of USD1.005 billion from the Chinese Exim Bank, obtained for the construction of a standard gauge rail line linking  Lagos to Kano but which was moved elsewhere.

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to claims by the 49-member Senate Caucus of ‎the Peoples Democratic Party which on Thursday kicked against the current administration’s war against corruption, claiming it was selective and lacked transparency and fairness.

In a statement Sunday night, Mr. Buhari described the claims by the Godwill Akpabio-led caucus as “false, baseless and totally unjustifiable”.

Mr. Akpabio and his colleagues had at a press conference in Abuja Thursday alleged that the administration’s anti-graft war was mainly targeted at opposition politicians.

“The [PDP] caucus is not happy with the current trend that seems to suggest that the war against corruption is selective and targeted at PDP stalwarts and states,” the group said at the briefing.

Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, has said former President Goodluck Jonathan was caged by some powerful forces while in power and therefore was not aware of some of things going on around him.

In a damning assessment of Mr. Jonathan’s tenure, Mr. Soyinka said the former president, who left office in May following his defeat by the incumbent, President Muhammadu Buhari, in the March 28 presidential poll, did not know that the nation had been compromised so badly under him until he (Soyinka) brought some issues to his notice.

Mr. Soyinka, a professor, spoke in an interview with the current edition Zero Tolerance magazine, a publication of Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

He was caged; things were going on that he did not know about.”

One of the officers who participated in the arrest of then Head of State, and current President, Muhammadu Buhari, during a military coup on August 27, 1985, Abdulmumini Aminu, has stated that contrary to claims, he and his colleagues never handcuffed Mr. Buhari upon arrest.

Mr. Aminu, a retired Colonel of the Nigerian Army, also said in an interview with Daily Trust on Sunday that contrary to believe, he was the one who led a team of three Army officers to arrest Buhari.

There are speculation that Mr. Buhari was arrested by the Immediate past National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, during the coup that saw the emergence of Ibrahim Babangida as military president.

“I must confess that I led that operation. I went to Dodan Barracks that time in company of two other officers – then Major John Madaki and Lawan Gwadabe. Three of us went, but specifically I was the one that went upstairs to bring Buhari,” Mr. Aminu said.

On Friday (August 7th) the jury was unable to to reach a unanimous decision which resulted in life in prison with no chance of parole, instead of the death penalty for Holmes. Holmes pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

#BBB NEWS| Naked Man Runs Along Highway Causing 6 Car Pile-Up [PHOTOS/VIDEO]

State troopers report a Ohio man ran for nearly a mile during rush hour on a highway. And yes, he was naked !

It’s reported the naked man was speeding and lost control of his car, crashing into other vehicles. Then apparently, he jumps out the vehicle, and proceeded to run naked down the highway.

“I’m very concerned, he’s obviously impaired, there’s something wrong,” said one 911 caller.

An off-duty Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputy and a state trooper finally caught the running man after about a mile and shot him with a Taser gun. He faces charges of aggravated vehicular assault.

Former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, and his family, have disowned three children from Mr. Fani-Kayode’s former wife, Yemisi, questioning their paternity.

In a lengthy article published Saturday, a representative of the family, Felix Olawunmi, narrated a turbulent post-marital relationship between the former minister and Yemisi, and said the issue of the children’s parenthood had been on for years.

The family said Yemisi, the daughter of a former Lagos state judge, refused repeatedly to allow the three girls undergo a paternity examination as requested by the Fani-Kayodes.

The former minister said he and his family had restrained themselves from going public for years, but that they became upset after ThisDay recently published a “libellous” piece about him and his former wife.
