Abuja, Nigeria, 6 June 2015: President Muhammadu Buhari says in fulfilment of one of their campaign promises, his declared assets and those of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will be released to the public upon the completion of their verification by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

It is hoped that this process will be completed before the expiry of the 100-day deadline within which they said they would do this.

The Senior Special Assistant, SSA (Media and Publicity), Mal. Garba Shehu who announced this in a statement on behalf of the President on Saturday, 6 June, said "the duly completed forms by both the President and the Vice President were submitted to the CCB on March 28th, a clear day ahead of their inauguration."

He said this statement was warranted by the need to clarify some suggestions that the President and the Vice-President may not, after all, declare their assets publicly.

#BBB NEWS| EFCC Releases Ex-Borno Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, On Bail

A former Borno State governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, who surrendered himself to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday, has been set granted bail.

He was granted an administrative bail Thursday evening, EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwajeren, confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES.

Although Mr. Sheriff has been set free, “we can ask him to come back at anytime we need him,” Mr. Uwajuren said.

No charges have been pressed and trial has not commenced. Specific allegations against the former governor are unclear at this time. Sources said the investigation is related to allegations that parts of the N300billion his administration received from the Federation Account between 2003 and 2011.

Mr. Sheriff governed Borno State on the platform of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party at the said time. The investigation began in 2012 and had been ongoing ever since.

Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, age 56, was elected as the first female President of Mauritius. She is a leading international scientist who previously directed the Mauritius-headquartered Centre for Phytotherapy Research (CEPHYR), an organization that authorizes the research for plants used in cosmetics, nutrition, and therapy. This Thursday the Parliament of Mauritius, which received independence from Britain in 1968, voted Gurib-Fakim's into the Presidential Office.

Ameenah Gurib-Fakim is the first woman to hold such position in this country.

Her appointment came after former President Kailash Purryag, who was selected by the island's previous Labour Party government, stepped down after having served as Mauritius's President since July of 2012.

Prime Minister Sir Anerood Jugnauth told reporters, “I have always believed in the equality of men and women."

Many officials from the opposition Party came out in support of her, despite the political divide in Mauritius's Parliament.

Four Texas family members have been charged with assault for brutality beating a 14 year old teenager who was 8 months pregnant.

Sharon Jones 45, Lonnell McDonald 27, Cedric Jones 27, and Cecila McDonald 25, were arrested Tuesday afternoon for assaulting a 14 year old teenage girl who was 8 months pregnant. Authorities where told they were trying to abort the unborn child because the pregnancy was unwanted.

The teenage girl was repeatedly struck in the stomach by the four family members. The pregnant teen was attacked in the living room of Sharon Jones home in Pleasant Grove Texas.

The attackers pinned the teen’s arms down to the floor. As Cecila and Lonnell McDonald took turns bouncing up and down on her stomach. Which probably was a mix of kicks and punches to the stomach.

Suge Knight may be more concerned with the murder charges leveled at him after the hit-and-run death of Terry Carter back in January, but to add salt to a wound that doesn’t seem to be healing anytime soon, the Carter family is suing Knight, along with Ice Cube and Dr. Dre in a wrongful death lawsuit.

In documents obtained by TMZ, Carter’s wife claims Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, who are both producers of the biopic Straight Outa Compton, hired known gang members to provide security during location shoots in gang-related neighborhoods during filming of the movie.

The suit claims some of the gang members started the fight, which led to Knight backing over Carter and killing him in the parking lot on that grim day in January.

Their remand followed their arraignment on Wednesday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, before a Federal High Court sitting in Ibaban, Oyo State on a 28-count charge bordering on conspiracy, fraud and stealing.

And Toogun Kayode Phillip-(all Ex-CBN staff) and Isaq Akano (A.K.A ISIAKA);  Ayodele  Festus Adeyemi;  Oyebamiji Akeem; Ayodeji Aleshe;  Ajiwe Sunday Adegoke ( all First Bank Staff) were  docked before Justice A. O. Faji.

#BBB NEWS| President Buhari Heads To Chad And Niger Before Flying To Germany, Returns On Tuesday

President Buhari has left Nigeria today to meet with regional allies in the fight against Boko Haram. His first official foreign visits as President include Chad and Niger.

According to his spokesman, Shehu Garba, “The President has Niger and Chad ahead of him. This will be his first trip outside the country in obvious matters of security”, he said. 

The trip will be two days long, spanning Wednesday and Thursday.

President Buhari recently announced that he will be moving Nigeria’s military command from Abuja to Maiduguri to help the bordering countries eliminate Boko Haram who have continued to cause chaos in the Northeastern region with attacks that have killed scores of people.

Shortly after his return from Chad, Buhari is also expected to attend this weekend’s G7 summit in Germany in his first major international meeting as Nigeria’s president.

In a review of the state owned oil company NNPC, its dealings were so shady that the organization commissioned to do a financial forensic audit over missing funds, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, was unable to obtain enough accounting documentation.

Senate on Wednesday approved President Muhammadu Buhari‘s request to appoint 15 special advisers for his administration.

The Senate took the decision after the President’s letter was read out to the lawmakers on Wednesday.

The Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, requested that Senate should debate the request at a Committee of the Whole, but Senate President, David Mark, declined the request, saying that was not necessary.

Mark later called for a voice vote to either approve or reject the request and the lawmakers responded by shouting “ayes.”

The President had in a letter, addressed to Mark, Tuesday, said his request was in accordance with the Section 151 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, (as amended).

Sepp Blatter, former President of FIFA, just announced that he will resign as President of FIFA, amid a major international scandal involving 14 senior FIFA officials accepting 10 million dollars in bribes from the South African government.

Since last week the FBI in the United States has charged 14 with high level officials corruption.

The former FIFA President announced that he will initiate an "extraordinary congress" to find his successor.

"I only want to do the best for FIFA and my institution. I decided to stand again as the best option for football. The elections are closed but the challenges we face haven't come to and end. FIFA needs restructuring. Although fifa have given me a new mandate, it doesn't seem to be supported by everyone - fans, clubs. Those who inspire FIFA like we do."

According to the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), the newly inaugurated Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will earn a monthly salary of N3, 514, 705.

The role of the RMAFC, empowered by Part 1 of the Third Schedule of the Constitution, is to outline the salary earnings appropriate for individuals who hold political offices.

Altogether, President Buhari will take home N1,171,568.33 every month, and N14,058,820 yearly for salary.

Buhari is also eligible for a regular hardship allowance, 50 percent of the basic salary, N1,757,350.5.

The government pays for the provision of car fuel, personal assistance, domestic staff, and utilities for President Buhari.

Six staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, implicated in an N8billion defaced and mutilated currency recycling scam, were today remanded in prison custody following their arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, before Justice N. Ayo Emmanuel of a Federal High Court sitting in  Ibadan, Oyo State.

The suspects: Patience Okoro Eye;  Afolabi Olufemi Johnson; Ilori Adekunle Sunday;  Kolawole Babalola,  Olaniran Muniru Adeola and Fatai Adedokun Yusuf, were arraigned on a five -count charge bordering on conspiracy, fraud and stealing.

Specifically, the apex bank employees were alleged to have compromised the CBN's Briquetting exercise, meant to mop up mutilated and defaced higher denomination currencies from circulation, to combat inflation.

Instead of destroying the currencies, they allegedly recycled the notes and substituted them with newspapers neatly cut to Naira sizes.

#BBB NEWS| Impeachment: Fayose, PDP Beg Buhari To Intervene | PUNCH

Tension rose again in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Monday as supporters of the state Governor, Ayodele Fayose, and some Peoples Democratic Party members laid  siege to the state House of Assembly in Ado Ekiti .

Their action was to prevent the 19 All Progressives Congress lawmakers from gaining entry to the assembly to actualise their move to impeach Fayose.

While the siege lasted, the national leadership of the PDP and Fayose urged President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the matter.

News had filtered into the state on Sunday night that the lawmakers had assembled in a hotel in a neighbouring state preparatory to sneaking into Ado Ekiti to remove Fayose and his deputy,   Kolapo Olusola.

It was gathered that the news made the police to quickly cordon off   the major   roads leading to the Assembly complex with their patrol vans and   an Armoured Personnel Carrier.
