King, who won for her portrayal of Terri LaCroix on ABC’s American Crime, thanked the entire cast and crew during her acceptance speech.
“I am so proud of this show, to have the opportunity to promote stories that promote conversation, necessary conversation,” she said. In the show, Terri is the mother of Kevin (portrayed by Trevor Jackson), a teenage jock who is accused of sexual assault.
King also acknowledged her very special date- her mother Gloria- during the speech, saying, “Mom! What a blessing I get to share this with my mom!”
Last year, King received her first Emmy nomination and subsequent win for her portrayal of Aliyah Shadeed in the series, which is an anthology.
Congrats!
