According to Deadline, the film is a partnership effort between John Legend’s Get Lifted Productions, Bron Studios, and Tonika Productions.
The plot involves a teenage honor students, Steve Harmon (changed to Harrison in the film), wrongfully accused of murder, and his journey through trial.
Nas and Legend will co-executive produce Monster, which marks music video director Anthony Mandler’s feature film debut.
The cast also includes Jeffrey Wright, Jennifer Ehle, Tim Blake Nelson, and Denzel’s Washington’s son, John David Washington.
