Beauty pageants are places where grace and poise are meant to rule, but a decidedly awkward moment stole the show Sunday (20th Dec).

Miss Universe 2015 host Steve Harvey wrongfully declared Miss Colombia the winner when she was the first runner-up. Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, the contestant from the Philippines, had won.

A contrite Harvey was forced to fix his mistake.

"OK folks ... I have to apologize," he told a confused crowd in Las Vegas.

"Let me just take control of this. This is exactly what's on the card. I will take responsibility for this. It was my mistake. It was on the card."

Moments before, he'd announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner, and she was crowned. Waving a Colombian flag and smiling broadly, she blew kisses at the audience.

Penning a love letter to the sport, Bryant shared a poem entitled “Dear Basketball,” where he admitted his “body knows it’s time to say goodbye.”

As the news made its way around the Web, current and former players from the League took to social media to react.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver released a statement, heralding Bryant as “one of the greatest players in the history of our game:”

President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday met behind closed doors inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting, which was held inside the new Banquet Hall built by the Jonathan administration, lasted less than 10 minutes.

Jonathan, decked in a black pair of trousers and black shirt with his trademark black hat, was driven into the premises in a black Range Rover.

No aide joined the two leaders for the closed-door parley.
