#BBB NEWS| Beyonce Will Reportedly Play A South African Slave In New Biopic Film

Beyonce will reportedly be returning to the big screen in what might be her biggest role since Dream Girls.

Word on the cinema streets is that Mrs. Carter will star in the upcoming biopic film about South African slave, Saartjie Baartman.

Although she has enjoyed a couple of well-received films, Bey still considers herself a breakthrough artist in the acting world, according to The Sun. And her upcoming role set to change all of that.

Saarjtie Baartman was a South African woman enslaved by a Dutch farmer in the early 1800s. Her captor’s brother and military surgeon displayed her in the freak show in London, Egyptian Hall of Piccadilly Circus, showcasing her unfamiliar frame, which was characterized by her large butt and curves. The film will depict her life leading up to her death in 1815.

In addition to starring in the biopic, Beyonce will also allegedly lend a hand in writing, The Sun reports. The release date has yet to be revealed, but it looks like it wasn’t enough to conquer the music world; now Queen Bey has her sights sets on taking over Hollywood.

Not everyone is happy about the news, however. The singer has already received criticism from Chief Jean Burgess of the First Indigenous Peoples of South Africa for taking on the role, who said that Beyonce is displaying “arrogance in her attempt to tell a story that is not her’s to tell.”

“She lacks the basic human dignity to be worthy of writing Sarah’s story, let alone playing the part,” he said, according to South African news site News24. “Ignoring the fact that the KhoiKhoi is alive and that Sarah’s story would have an impact on how we are portrayed, is a mistake of great magnitude.”

Beyonce has not confirmed the role as yet.
