It’s now being reported Jay Z called the singer-songwriter the day after the lawsuit and agreed to relieve her from her contract, but filed a counter suit to the tune of $2.3 million which according to Roc Nation was invested on marketing her sophomore record. The point of the lawsuit is to get its money back.
“When Rita signed, Roc Nation and its senior executives were very involved with her as an artist,” states the complaint which was filed in a L.A. Superior Court.
“As Roc Nation’s interests diversified, there were fewer resources available, and the company suffered a revolving door of executives. Rita’s remaining supporters at the label left or moved on to other activities, to the point where she no longer had a relationship with anyone at the company.”
Ora’s lawyer Howard King told The New York Daily News he hopes to reach a settlement prior to the April 19 hearing deadline.
