#BBB NEWS| Denzel Washington’s ‘The Equalizer’ Lands A Sequel

Prayer hand emojis up: Denzel Washington will return for part two of his action thriller The Equalizer. Sony announced its plans for a sequel at Wednesday night’s CinemaCon (April 22) and also confirmed it to EW.

The 2014 film saw Robert McCall (played by Washington), a retired black ops government agent with a penchant for page-turners and basically kicking ass when necessary. The Spark Notes on the plot: He runs into trouble with a Russian mob as he tries to save a teenage girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) under their control. Here’s where Olivia Pope says “It’s handled.”

Based on the TV show of the same name, The Equalizer rocked the box office last September, raking in $192.3 million worldwide. No word on whether director Antoine Fuqua will return for The Equalizer 2 or the sequel’s release date.
