#BBB NEWS| Prince’s Protege, Vanity, Dead At 57

Denise Katrina Matthews better known to the world as Vanity from the 80s girl group Vanity 6 died Monday evening (February 15) after years of battling kidney failure and most recently abdominal illness. She was 57.

It’s reported the late singer struggled with crack addiction in the ’90s, and after an over dose 1994, her Kidneys were irreversibly damaged.Matthews died in a Fremont, CA hospital.

According to those close to the singer, in the last few months of her life, she established a Go Fund Me Page in hopes to receive assistance for a recent abdominal disease which caused inflammation of her small intestine.

Matthews, who went onto star in classic films such as The Last Dragon and Action Bronson received her biggest success with the group’s 1982 song “Nasty Girl” produced by Prince. The group then toured with the Purple one in 1999, but she quit shortly after to pursue a solo career.
