The skilled orator began his address that he was up until 3 a.m Tuesday rewriting, calling back to his popular 2004 DNC speech that helped begin his rise to becoming the future president.
The 54-year-old spoke about his health care reform plan, the economic comeback after the recession, killing of Osama bin Laden, and legalization of gay marriage as some of his many accomplishments during his eight years in office.
“There has never been a man or a woman, not me, not Bill, not anybody more qualified than Hillary Clinton to serve as president of the United States of America” said Obama.
The 44th president teed off on Donald Trump as well, pointing out that he’s not the man for the job. He also had some not so kind words for the Republican National Convention. “What we heard in Cleveland last week wasn’t particularly Republican,” he said. “And it sure wasn’t conservative.”
“Don’t boo, Vote” Obama ranted, when a smattering of boos came after mentioning Trump. “America is already great, America is already strong. And I promise you, our strength, our greatness, does not depend on Donald Trump.”
The president finished the 45 minute speech with a clear message, “Join me to reject cynicism, reject fear, to summon what’s best in us, to elect Hillary Clinton.”
