The statue, entitled “The Emperor Has No B***s,” donned the Republican presidential candidates’s famous come over and quickly became all the rage for passersby and online. However, despite being an attention grabber, it was taken down by city workers at about 1:30PM.
“NYC Parks stands firmly against any un-permitted erection in city parks, no matter how small,” said Parks Department spokesman Sam Biederman.
The creators behind the politically charged statue glued it to the cement and released a statement explaining the messaging behind it. “It’s our hope that Donald Trump, our modern day emperor of Facism and Bigotry, is never installed in the most powerful political and military position in the world.”
The life size statue has made an appearance across the nation including in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Cleveland and Seattle. A Harlem native spoke with the New York Daily News and perfectly encapsulated a possible interpretation for the statue.
“It’s shocking — he’s exposed,” Zulayke Veitia, 34 said. “But he exposed himself.”
