This year’s MTV Video Music Awards will include the presentation of their coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award to none other than Mr. West.
The network made the announcement via Twitter that Sunday night’s show (Aug. 30) will place Yeezy in the company of past recipients including The Beastie Boys, Justin Timberlake and Beyonce:
Timberlake and Beyonce most recently brought the house down, with the former NSYNC member tapping his bandmates for his set, and Mrs. Carter being presented her trophy by Jay Z and Blue Ivy. Never one to be outdone, it is a safe assumption that West has something up his tattered adidas sleeve for the evening – notwithstanding his acceptance speech.
Kanye hasn’t been to the VMAs since 2013 when he preformed ‘Blood on the Leaves.’ West has been nominated for ‘Video of the Year’ three times but has yet to win.
The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards will be hosted by Miley Cyrus and airs on Aug. 30 at 9 p.m. EST.
