The annual event will air on PBS on Nov. 23, taking place in Washington, D.C., which boasts a list of fellow comedians set to commemorate Murphy, including Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Trevor Noah, Kathy Griffin and many more.
A few cast members from Saturday Night Live, where Murphy found his footing, will also join in on the bound-to-be-funny salute.
The Brooklyn native has remained a fixture in film and television, etching himself as a staple figure on our small and big screens.
Since the early 80’s to the new millennium, Murphy has received various accolades and nominations for his silver screen portrayals, gaining a nomination from the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor in Dreamgirls, but later won a Golden Globe for that same role.
Murphy’s filmography resume also lists movies such as Dr. Dolittle, The Nutty Professor, Vampire In Brooklyn, 48 Hrs., Harlem Nights and many, many more.
