The attackers moved into the village on motorcycles opening fire on “anything that moved”.
The Boko Haram fighters then raided any businesses or shops in the village, before fleeing the area. Rockets were also fired according to Reuters. The region has seen multiple attacks by Boko Haram in the past few months.
The government of Niger declared a State of Emergency after the attack. An 8,700 strong joint task force, comprised of troops from Chad, Niger, Benin, Nigeria and Cameroon is operational but has yet to conduct any joint military strikes against Boko Haram.
