#BBB NEWS| Bobby Shmurda Denied Bail For The 7th Time, Judge Refuses To Lower Bail

Bobby Shmurda has remained in police custody since December 2014, and circumstances don’t point to him being free anytime soon.

A judge has denied yet another bail package for the Brooklyn rapper–marking the seventh time this has occurred–on Tuesday (Jan. 19). After a nearly hour-long hearing, a judge also refused to lower Shmurda’s $2 million bail, DNA Info reports.

The 21-year-old rapper currently faces charges for conspiracy, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon and criminally using drug paraphernalia.

His attorney, Alex Spiro, argued that his bail amount was placed at an amount that is “five times what his possible net worth could be;” Shmurda’s net worth was recorded as $427,000, according to a 2014 tax return. Spiro also deemed it “unconscionable” that a “black teenager with no criminal record [and] no warrant history” could be held under these conditions.

Shmurda’s mother, Leslie Pollard spoke with reporters following the latest denial.

“There’s no evidence to have him there. Everything that the DA is stating is somebody else’s business, not Ackquille’s business,”
she said. “It’s bullsh-t. It’s because of who he is.”

He is due again in court on Feb. 16.
