#BBB NEWS| Congrats, Leo DiCaprio Wins Best Actor At Oscars 2016 [PHOTO/VIDEO]

#OscarsSoWhite or not, everyone was happy that Leonardo DiCaprio finally won a damn Academy Award.

Six nominations and 22 years later, the actor snatched the Best Actor gold for his leading role as Hugh Glass in The Revenant, edging out a crop of other noteworthy performances: Bryan Cranston in Trumbo, Matt Damon in The Martian, Michael Fassbender in Steve Jobs and Eddie Redmayne in The Danish Girl. The glorious win was a brief unifying moment that saw viewers (and boycotters) congratulating the actor on his long-awaited shine.

Along with thanking the Academy for getting around to the acknowledgment, DiCaprio also used the moment to shed light on climate change.

“Making The Revenant was about man’s relationship to the natural world,” he said. A world that we collectively felt in 2015 as the hottest year in recorded history. Our production needed to move to the southern tip of this planet just to be able to find snow. Climate change is real. It is happening right now.”

The moment marked the most tweeted event in Academy Awards telecast history, edging out Ellen Degeneres’ all-star selfie.
