Simone Biles, a pint-sized 19-year-old gymnast currently living in the Lone Star State, clinched the all-around title at the 2016 Pacific Rim Challenge this past weekend in Everett, Wash.
She also won the gold medal on the vault, balance beam and floor exercise, and the U.S. women won first place in the team standings with a score of 243.200; the second place team’s score was 219.100.
Biles, who is the three-time consecutive national and world champion, spoke to ESPN about her impressive competition performances.
This was her first competition since the world championships more than five months ago. She has been hard at work tweaking her routines with skills that have a higher level of difficulty, such as implementing a new vault called the Cheng into her repertoire.
These gold medals only add to her already impressive collection of bling. She has the most gold medals out of any gymnast in the history of the world championships, despite only appearing in three of them. It has been said that Biles is “unbeatable,” and many are looking forward to her showing up, showing out and sweeping the podium at Rio this summer.
