According to TMZ, the Compton native purchased a portrait created by artist Madsteez of the Purple One for $65,000, which reportedly took him more than 100 hours to finalize. “My man @losangelesconfidential hit me just after @prince had passed to pay homage to the K!NG of PURPLE,” the artist wrote on his Instagram account.
The Game shared that he almost recorded a song with Prince, but given his use of curse words on a particular track, Prince decided to decline the collaboration.
“We met at Doug Morris’ office at Universal a few years back. He heard the song and there was one curse word in it and he was like, ‘I can’t get on that, it’s got a curse word in it,'” he recalls. “We laughed about it again when I saw him at the BET awards or something. It was real dope.”
