#BBB NEWS| DJ Mustard Makes History At 2015 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards [PHOTO]

There’s a reason why most of your favorite songs start with “Mustard on the beat.” DJ Mustard was among the honorees at the this year’s BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards, and he snatched up a total of 12 awards.

Racking up credits on nine of the “35 BMI Most Performed Songs Of The Year” – including Tinashe’s “2 On,” Jeremih’s “Don’t Tell ‘Em” and Big Sean’s “I Don’t F**k With You,” Mustard also clenched a first-time-ever win at the ceremony. He is the first artist to receive the honors of Producer of the Year and Songwriter of the Year in BMI history.

Taking to Instagram to relish in his accomplishment, Mustard thanked all those who helped him achieve the success:

Last night I took home 12 awards from BMI …. But most importantly I did something never done before … I won producer of the year and writer of the year in the same night …. Thanks god and all the people that work with me and keep me on the right path and thanks again BMI…

The biggest award of the night, however, went to the legendary Nile Rodgers, who was honored with the BMI Icon Award, joining the likes of The Jacksons, Snoop Dogg, George Clinton, James Brown, who have previously been given the award.

Congratulations to DJ Mustard, Nile Rodgers and all of the BMI award winners.
