In a statement, Nigerian Army spokesman, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, disclosed that the troops acted after receiving reliable information that Boko Haram terrorists were in the area
The statement disclosed that the troops also captured one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), one rocket-propelled grenade 7, six AK-47 rifles, two Fabrique Nationale rifles, 10 magazines, 188 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition and 64 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition. The soldiers also recovered three mobile phones, six copies of Holy Quran and 20 motorcycles.
Colonel Usman described the soldiers as being “in high spirit” following the attack, adding that the troops suffered no casualty or injury.
The spokesman stated that the military was “committed to the clearance and apprehension of the Boko Haram terrorists in the country.”
He also stated that soldiers attached to the 7th Brigade Quick Reaction Force encountered and killed Boko Haram fighters moving in three motorcycles along the Kekeno Road that connects to Dabam Masara.
Colonel Usman revealed that the troops not only killed two Boko Haram terrorists but also recovered two AK-47 rifles, three motorcycles and one tear gas from the insurgents. In addition, the troops also retrieved four mobile telephone handsets, assorted sizes of bathroom slippers, food flasks, and plastic cups.
Yesterday, the same troops also killed a Boko Haram kingpin featured in the Nigerian Army’s list of 100 most wanted Boko Haram terrorists leaders.
In a related development, soldiers of the 118 Task Force Battalion of the 7 Brigade killed one Boko Haram terrorist and captured another during a face-off at Ma'ala Village in Kukawa local government area of Borno State. Colonel Usman disclosed that the soldiers also rescued a three-year old girl from the terrorists.
Among items seized from the terrorists were one AK-47 rifle, three rifle magazines, one Hewlett Packard laptop, two external hard drives, a pair of military and Nigeria Police camouflage uniforms, a camel bag, three mini solar panels, assorted charms, fishing nets and a soldering iron.
