#BBB NEWS| Civil Rights Leaders Call For The Removal Of Cosby’s Star From The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Civil Rights activists are now calling for the removal of Bill Cosby’s star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Many activist remained neutral during the public mudslinging, until the reveal of a 2005 deposition in which the once beloved, now disgraced comedian, admitted under oath to obtaining Quaaludes with the intent of giving to women he wanted to have sex with.

“Cosby to black America is an icon, but once an icon figure betrays the trust of the community, we have to withdraw our support and condemn their actions,” said Najee Ali, who was among those calling for the star’s removal. “If they don’t remove that star, we can call it the ‘Walk of Shame.’ “

While activists are calling for Cosby’s removal, Chamber of Commerce president Leron Gubler, said they’ve never removed a star in the past and have no plans to do so now.

“Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, because of this, we have never removed a star from the Walk,”
Gubler said.

The 77-year-old actor received his star in 1977 and vandals on three separate occasion wrote the words “rapist” on it.

In October 2014, comedian Hannibal Burress called Cosby a rapist in a a Philadelphia stand-up which ignited the firestorm of controversy now surrounding the former Cosby Show star. Since then, more than two dozen women have come forward accusing the actor of either sexual misconduct, drugging them or rape.

Due to the mounting allegations, Bill Cosby has stepped down from Temple’s Board of Trustees, his Netflix special has been canceled and Disney removed his statue from the Hollywood studio theme park.
