The lyrics site Musixmatch analyzed the words of the 99 best selling artists in music history to determine who had the biggest vocabulary. To make sure artists with more songs weren’t given an advantage, only the 100 longest songs from each was measured.

It shouldn’t be a huge surprise that Eminem — with his dense. wordy verses — was number one, having used 8,180 words in his 100 longest songs.

Jay Z, Tupac and Kanye West were 2-4, Bob Dylan grabbed the five spot, and the Black Eye Peas are sixth.

Shady, Hov, Pac, ‘Ye and T.B.E.P. were the only Hip Hop groups among the 99 best selling, and the fact that they occupy five of the top six spots confirms what we already know: Hip Hop is by far the wordiest musical genre.
