Despite Bey’s game-changing self-titled project that was released in Dec. 2013, Dangerously In Love still stands as her best-selling solo album.
The 15-track compilation boasted powerhouse singles like “Me, Myself and I,” “Baby Boy” alongside Sean Paul, “Naughty Girl,” and the chart-topping “Crazy In Love” featuring her hubby Jay Z, back when he used the hyphen in his name.
In its first week of release, the album sold 317,000 copies stateside, and hit the number one spot on the US Billboard 200 chart. Serving as executive producer, Yonce also worked with industry heavyweights like Scott Storch, Rich Harrison, Missy Elliott, Big Boi, and featured a duet with the late Luther Vandross.
The announcement of DIL came as a bittersweet moment to fans because Destiny’s Child also revealed that they would pursue their solo careers. After the success of their third joint album, Survivor (2001), the group parted ways briefly, and thus DIL was born. The title track of Bey’s debut solo album, which was featured on Survivor, was later revived for her breakthrough project titled as “Dangerously In Love 2.”
