The case was brought to court earlier this year with reports stating that Fifty was originally mandated to pay $5 million, but filed for bankruptcy.
Leviston’s lawyer Hunter Shkolnik also released a statement on the ruling. “The jury saw through the lies and punished Mr. Jackson. We are so happy for Lastonia, she deserves this.” Leviston’s legal team reportedly called for 50 Cent to pay $15 million, but settled for $2 million.
This isn’t the end for the “Patiently Waiting” rapper and this lawsuit, however. His attorney James Renard told the New York Daily News, “Our client intends to file post-verdict, pre-judgment motions which we believe should reduce the size of the award. Ultimately, the fate of any obligation to pay a final judgment will be determined by the bankruptcy court.”
Despite his legal troubles, Fifty is currently promoting the release of his new film Southpaw.
